Reviewed Slow-Cooker Black-Bean Soup with Turkey

Feb 18, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Whoops... forgot to blend 2 cups of beans/soup. Didn't need to, about 1/2 the beans had lysed, so it was very thick/creamy already. 4 hours on HIGH (used 2 raw turkey legs and about 1/2 tsp of liquid smoke), and 2 on low and completely ready. 2 tsp of pickling spice instead of 2Tb. Honestly, it tastes like bacon.

Reviewed French Onion Soup

Nov 30, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this several times... and it's fantastic. Best french onion soup ever. I use "Better than Bouillon" as the base, purple onions sliced very thin (1/8th an inch and smaller), and mix it up with the wine. Last time was a spicy/chocolaty shiraz... this time was a great ($10 great, not beautiful old bordeaux great) Malbec. I've never had any...
