Reviewed Five Layer Mexican Dip

Aug 7, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe. I made the mistake of forgetting to seed the tomatoes, which made the dip a bit watery as it sat. Otherwise, this was wonderful with or without chips. "

Reviewed Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes

Aug 7, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made a chocolate pumpkin gooey butter cake by using a chocolate cake mix, adding chocolate chips to the pumpkin filling and leaving out the cinnamon and nutmeg. Also, I only added about 3/4 of the powdered sugar called for. Served it with toasted coconut on top. Turned out very good!"

Yummy! So perfect with tea or coffee in the morning. I only added 1/2 cup granulated sugar in the cake. In the streusel, I replaced 1/3 cup of the all-purpose flour with oat flour and it still came out great. Thank you Ina!"

Jul 18, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Flawless! I prefer this over apple pie, and I really love apple pie. I did make a few alterations based on what I had on hand and what suited my palate. First, I didn't have any oranges, so I used 2 tablespoons of apple juice and simply left out the teaspoon of orange zest. Also left out the nutmeg because it's not my thing. For the topping, I red"

I only added the sauce from the canned chipotle and doubled the recipe because I was cooking for a crowd. It was a hit! Gone before the night was over and there was a TON of shrimp. Next time I make this for myself I'll definitely add in the chipotles for a kick."

Jun 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

So so so so so good!! Reminded me of the cinnamon buns you get at the mall. I also didn't have buttermilk, so I used lemon juice and milk. I had to have read/watched this recipe 20 times before I actually made it because I was nervous about making a dough from scratch for the first time and figured something was bound to go wrong. Everything ended"

Reviewed Hummus For Real

Jun 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Best hummus ever! I don't have a slow cooker, so I made the chickpeas the old fashioned way (soaked overnight, simmered for 45 minutes to an hour). It tastes great as a dip for vegetables, but can also replace mayo in things like tuna salad and sandwiches. The sesame flavor from the tahini really comes through, which I love. "

Delicious! This is such a great basic recipe that can be flavored in so many ways. Like some other reviewers noted, I toast the oats in a dry pan and replace the milk mixture with almond milk. I think I'll try using a combination of almond milk and greek yogurt next time I make this to mimic the tang of buttermilk."

The hummus came out really good, but the lemon flavor was a bit overpowering for my palate. I think I'll put half the amount of lemon next time and it'll be much better. "

Reviewed Quinoa With Garlic, Pine Nuts and Raisins

Delicious and healthy! I like to add baby spinach while it's warm so the leaves get slightly wilted. This also tastes great cold."

Reviewed Asian Grilled Salmon

May 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I had this for dinner tonight with roasted leeks and it was absolutely delicious. I made an individual portion for myself, so I only used a quarter of each ingredient and it came out perfectly. I also made it inside rather than on the grill, and it worked just fine although I'm excited to try doing it on the grill sometime this summer.

This is exactly what you crave in a macaroni and cheese recipe! I had never made any sort of bechamel sauce before, but this recipe was simple enough to do it and do it well for the first time. I'm really not a fan of nutmeg, but it still tasted great. If you really dislike nutmeg, I would just put a little pinch or leave it out entirely. It was a"

This is exactly what you crave in a macaroni and cheese recipe! I had never made any sort of bechamel sauce before, but this recipe was simple enough to do it and do it well for the first time. It was a bit too rich for my mom because of the gruyere, but everyone else really loved it."

This rating is only for the AMAZING peanut butter frosting! I never made the cupcakes, so I can't comment on them, but I have made the frosting for other recipes. It tastes like Reese's peanut butter cups! People rave about the frosting whenever I make it. Eat-it-on-cardboard good! "

SO amazingly refreshing! I love this drink on a spring or summer day. The flavor of the tea isn't for everyone so I would recommend simply swapping the red/lemon zinger tea bags with another herbal tea that suits your preferences if you're concerned about it. "

Reviewed Deep-Dish Apple Pie

Apr 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Really nice apple pie recipe! The crust is flaky and rich, which works really well with the fresh, tart apple filling. It should be noted that Ina likes the apples in her pie to be crisp, so I recommend cooking the apple mixture on the stove beforehand if you prefer a softer texture; just make sure to cool it completely before you put it in the un"
