I confess that I haven't made Paula's recipe, but I have made a similar one, from America's Test Kitchen. If you don't have self-rising flour, you can use regular flour, BUT YOU MUST ADD BAKING POWDER (or it won't rise, duh!). 2 1/2 Tsps of baking powder to 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
