I think this quote best describes me in the kitchen: "a good cook is a sorceress who dispenses happiness," and although I did not campaign for the title, I am the designated cook who hosts most of the family get-togethers. I prefer menus that are homemade and planned out, rarely taking shortcuts. For example, I will make the angel food cake for my berry trifle and my banana pudding is not concocted from a box!
I often view the food network channel to enhance my creativity in the kitchen. Besides cooking and baking, my other interests include poetry, music, genealogy, biking and hiking, beach and mountain trips, theatre, crosswords, and pets. I have an internet writing service (MaLady's Poetry) and am happily married with two daughters, three grandchildren, and an adorable companion cat.
I prefer to eat from all the major food groups and gravitate toward most cuisines. The foods I particularly enjoy preparing are spicy Cajun dishes with seafood; roasted veggies; fresh fruits; Southern desserts; creative casseroles and soups; Italian pasta and bean dishes; freshly-baked whole-grain breads. As far as dining out, I prefer to eat in. Dining out is generally reserved for a rare occasion at our local Cajun French restaurant, a favorite steakhouse, or Mexican fare.
