Reviewed funnel cake with powdered sugar

Aug 26, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I followed the recipe as written but added cinnamon and vanilla. The funnel cakes were really good but I would have liked the batter to be a little sweeter (but it was nothing a little extra powdered sugar couldn't fix). I'll half the recipe next time. It yielded about 8 large funnel cakes.

Reviewed Flour's Famous Banana Bread

May 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Phenomenal! I'll throw my other banana bread recipes away. Very moist and tasty.

I split the batter into two smaller pans and added craisins to one of the loaves. I wish I would have added them to both - delicious! "

This was good. I liked the hint of lemon and orange. However, the spice was too much for my liking. Icecream neutralized it a little but without icecream, the nutmeg and cinnamon totally overtook the palate. I'll make again but I'll use much less of the spice."

Reviewed Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Nov 7, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I think this recipe is perfect, as is. I made a double batch and it turned out super cheesy and delicious. Many reviewers recommend doubling the white sauce. I'm quite glad that I didn't. I used a glass 9x13 cassarole and it took just over an hour and a half to bake. (I had to cover with foil about an hour in.)"

Reviewed Mr. John's Meat-Stuffed Bell Peppers

May 18, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was NOT a knock your socks off recipe. It's a good base recipe but it lacks a depth of flavor. I'll definitely play around with this one in the future."

Reviewed New Orleans Style Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Mar 8, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was great! I didn't have time to make the sauce, but the pudding itself was fantastic. I will definitely base variations off of this recipe from now on. (Peaches would be a nice addition.)""

This was delicious and absolutely picture worthy. I was looking forward to leftover ham for breakfast but unfortunately there wasn't any.""

Reviewed Easy Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

Mar 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was delicious. I used 5 huge russet potatoes and a summer squash, doubled the rest of the ingredients and added S & P. The squash tasted amazing and my kids barely noticed that there was a vegetable buried in there.""

Reviewed Black Bean Hummus

Jan 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Super easy and quite good! I didn't have white wine vinegar, so I substituted red wine vinegar instead. I've never tried hummus before, this was a good place to start. My husband, 2 year old, and I gobbled it down with tortilla chips. ""

Reviewed Fried Chicken Wings with Emeril's Essence

Nov 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These were good. The flavor didn't come through as I had expected it to. This could be because I omitted the hot sauce. Next time I'll add more essence to the flour mixture. ""

This tasted like any old sauce to me. It was good but not memorable. It'z not something I would rave to family and friends about.""

Reviewed Beatty's Chocolate Cake

Oct 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious! The cake was very moist and light. I really liked the flavor the coffee added. This recipe definitely requires 2 9-inch pans, not 8. I didn't try the frosting but the cake's a keeper! ""

This was decent. I'm still looking for that unforgettable "go-to" recipe... this is not it. There isn't any depth to the flavor. I'll try something else next time.""

Reviewed Spicy Baked Chickpeas

Sep 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I really liked this concept. However, if I make this again, I'll use different spices. I didn't prefer the flavor and most of it went to waste. I skinned the chickpeas and dried them thoroughly. I shook the pan frequently and left them in the oven for an extra 8-10 minutes to acheive the crisp she had mentioned on-air. This recipe is decent, bett...

Reviewed Beef Stroganoff

Feb 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very Good. The sauce was a little thin, next time I'll use less stock or more flour. I also added about 2 tsp worcestershire in with the sour cream as a few other reviewers had suggested. This will be "my" recipe for Beef Stroganoff from now on.

Reviewed Chocolate Spiced Pork Chops

Jan 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was excellent! I normally find pork chops to be boring & bland but this rub dressed them up so nicely. There is definitely a sweetness to the rub that I've never experienced with pork before. My only tweak - I had to leave the pan in the oven for an extra 3 minutes or so. The chops looked beautiful & they tasted great served over rice. I'll be...

Dec 29, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe! I used Bisquick & milk for the dumplings. I also added about 3/4 tsp of rosemary in with the parsley as the previous reviewer suggested. The dumplings were delicious and really provided a great flavor to the dish.

Reviewed Olive Bites

Oct 18, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

I am rating these bites with a 5 based on the rule that we can only use 5 ingredients. The end result was pretty decent but not something that I would personally rave about if I were tasting it at a party. I feel like the 5 ingredient limitation really sabatoged the wow factor. I will definitely be making these again but I will be experimenting with...
