Reviewed Kumquat-Peppercorn Compote with Cow's Milk Cheese

I made this with fresh kumquats from our neighbor's tree. I had to guess at the quantity since I couldn't weigh them--a rounded cup of sliced kumquats. Also, I subbed grated ginger since I didn't have the star anise. It was a hit and I will make again."

This tasted great! I cut the recipe in half and we only used half the aspic--so it definitely would serve more. I still used the 8 x 8" pan and had only made it a couple hours ahead so it melted better. (thanks to the other review). It would be a great make ahead meal & a great way to use up leftover chicken."
