Reviewed goat cheese mashed potatoes

Dec 7, 2014 on

Made these for our Thanksgiving and they were the hit of the table. Very easy and so moist. I decided after reading the other reviews not to use my Kitchenaid for fear of them becoming to gummy so I hand mashed them and they were perfect. I in error bought regular goat cheese versus the herb type and they still turned out delicious. A for sure do-over...

Anyone know if you can use regular goat cheese instead of the herb and garlic type? Will it make a huge difference? Thanks!

Have to agree with the majority of reviews this recipe fell way short on flavor. Great tip on precooking the butternut squash. I've been cooking Giada's recipes for years and this one is not a do-over as not enough flavor and not a normal "wow" dish that I always get from her recipes.

Very tasty and filling. I didn't have the pesto so can't give it 5 stars as I think that would have elevated the flavor even more. A nice change to the traditional baked ziti. Next time will make with the pesto to see the difference. I also didn't add the spinach to the sauce as I didn't want it to wilt and wanted the full amount on the top layer.

This recipe came out just as the other reviewers stated with just 2 additional comments. I only baked for 15 min (video says) not 17 like the recipe and the batter made 7 additional doughnuts. Important NOT to fill more than 3/4 full.Tastes just like a french toast doughnut. Very easy recipe. I wonder if you could freeze them??? Very good.

Very colorful and tasty. Nice alternative to incorporate faro in a salad. Have made a few times and important to use sherry vinegar (found at whole foods) versus sherry wine. Nice served at room temperature too. Very good.

This was so flavorful and hearty. Made for my Bunko group last night and they all thought there was meat in it! I used dried shiitake mushrooms (as I had that on hand) which were delicious and used 5oz of fresh mixed mushrooms like the recipe called for which gave it a lot of additional texture and of course the red wine gave great flavor as well....

This was quite tasty. It didn't come out as pretty as Giada's but that was due to my inadequate pastry folding skills. The grilled peaches (done on a grill outside on a grill pan with the white balsamic glaze was outstanding (next time I will just stop there and serve those. The key to making the caramel sauce is using an aluminum saucepan and whe"

Although this was an old recipe that just recently aired it is still one of our favorites. It has such a nice blend of flavors and is such a pretty presentation as well as just good ole delicious. I think it's worth it to find Israeli couscous versus plain couscous. A repeat recipe for sure and is perfect for the summer as a side dish. Highly rec"

Although very easy to assemble and the homemade sauce is a must I found it lacking in flavor. I halved the recipe and added both a can of chiles and it didn't have enough kick for my family. I also added more chicken and cheese then it called for which was much better. I really enjoy her show but not sure this one is a do-over for us. "

I really thought these lacked flavor. Butter alone with the other spices did not add enough flavor or kick to make this a do over. I added Sirracha sauce to give it a bit more kick. I was very disappointed. I also had to broil them to get them crispy. The chicken was moist but that's about it. "

This is very easy and tasty but DOES NOT need the additional salt as mentioned in recipe. The salmon is salty enough and doesn't require the additional salt. The lemon zest adds such a nice flavor. Wonderful presentation. "

I'm usually a huge fan of everything Giada makes but this one was not up to par with all her others. Visually it was not appealing (very grey in color) and the taste was just fair. She has other Thai flavored recipes that are indeed "do-overs" but this isn't one of them. "

This is my "go to" quick appetizer. I've been making it for years. Always a hit. The only changes I've made are I omit the nuts (family doesn't like nuts) and you only need 1 egg. Very easy and highly recommend for a quick impressive appetizer. "

The presentation is wonderful however the challenge is getting the filling in the middle. I think it would be critical to the integrity of the recipe to use a pastry gun as I used a Baggie with a tiny hole at the end and that DID NOT work. It was a mess. Had I used the right equipment for the middle I think it would have been perfect. The Marshmel"
