Way WAY too salty. I split the recipe in half and used low sodium soy sauce and it was still much too salty for us. I may try to use low sodium beef broth instead of the beef consumme since along with other flavorings the consumme also has MSG. Not something I want to add to my family's diet. I cooked ours in the crock pot for 8 hours on low...

Yes! I made this and halved the recipe since I didn't want a ton of brisket hanging around, and it's almost inedible. I'm trying to figure out if I can rinse it and coat it with BBQ or something to offset the saltiness.

I made this in the crock pot. I cooked it on low for 8 hours and it turned out very tender. VERY salty, but tender.

When I told my family we were having tomato pie for dinner one summer evening last year, they looked at me and promptly turned up their noses. Of course, I made them each try a small piece and their reaction was priceless! They all asked for seconds!! That tomato pie was gone in 10 min flat and they all wanted more! I used 1/2 the mayo called "

Yum! The addition of the warm honey was very tasty and the technique made a huge difference in the final texture. This will be my regular recipe from now on. I followed the directions exactly and used day old French bread. I made sure to slice the bread only 1/2 in thick which probably made a big difference."

I omitted the fresh jalapenos and let everyone make it as spicy as they wanted. Good and filling and I liked the addition of the zucchini. I think I might try to saute the veggies a bit longer to get them more caramelized for a deeper flavor. Other than the jalapenos, I added fresh parsley because that is what I had an abundance of from the end...
