My Activity

Reviewed Best Gooey Brownie Recipe EVER

"These are outstanding. Most brownie recipes are too dry and cakey for my taste. These are fudgy and perfect. I used Ghiradelli unsweetened cocoa powder, and Hershey;s Semisweet Baking Melts for the chocolate chips. I added about 1/4 coarsely chopped pecans. Delish. I baked mine in a 13x9 pan, for 20 minutes."

Reviewed 10-Bean Soup

"Out of this world. I got a 10 bean mix from the bulk aisle at Sprouts Farmers Market and had no idea what to do with it. I;m so glad I found this recipe. It was delicious and filling. I made the following alterations: instead of fresh tomatoes, I used a can of diced tomatoes (all I had, and it was great), I used 2 fresh garlic cloves, I used o..."

Reviewed Beatty's Chocolate Cake

"This is the only chocolate cake recipe you need. Period. It's decadently dark (make sure you use a high quality cocoa powder--it makes all the difference), moist, and heavenly. I didn't care for the frosting recipe and haven't made it since I first made this cake. The second time I made it, I used the frosting recipe on the cocoa powder container "

I mixed mayo with a bit of spicy southwest mustard and slathered the buns with that. You could really take these over the top by adding lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. but trust me it's really not necessary. They are fab"

Reviewed Apple Cake "Tatin"

"Absolutely delicious! I used 2 small gala apples instead of granny smith because that's what I had on hand. Also, after pouring the caramel over the apples, I sprinkled about 1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans--I liked the addition so much that next time I might go up to 1/2 cup. Also, I might lightly sprinkle cinnamon over the caramel for a little e"

Thank you Ina for another outstanding recipe!"

Reviewed Magnolia Bakery's Vanilla Birthday Cake and Frosting

"These were awful. Dry and coarse, almost like a vanilla cornbread. I followed the directions precisely and did not overmix. The best vanilla cake recipe I have found (had to go back to the drawing board after trying this one) is on the Taste of Home website, called "Golden Orange Cupcakes" but you could easily modify to make it just vanilla...those..."
