I always exclude nutmeg in all recipes.. It will go bad before the next time you use it.

Look for the Goya products in your market.

Reviewed Garlic Roasted Potatoes

Oct 10, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Made it yesterday for the first time. Very tasty. Requires more attention than what the directions state, or the potatoes will burn. Also, way too much salt, not unlike movie theater popcorn. I will cut the salt in half next time and adjust from there.

Made it as per the video, which is different than the written instructions, with the parmesan cheese. It doesn't have a powerful garlicky taste as you eat the bread, but does leave a very nice garlic aftertaste in your mouth. I was expecting that in your face smack of garlic, not unlike the shrimp scampi at Red Lobster, but that was not the case"

Very good. Made it exactly as written with a 3lb. loin, keeping everything else the same. I found the rosemary somewhat overpowering, but I did use fresh cut from my garden, not store bought. All in all, very tasty and moist. Next time I will back down the rosemary by half. One word of caution, watch the sauce reduction. I made the mistake o"

I followed the directions precisely and wound up with a drier batter than what the video shows. Mine came out more like a cookie dough than a batter. But I stayed the course and baked it as is. The flavor is outstanding, personally I would like a little more orange as the cranberry seems to dominate the taste. As a result of the drier batter, "

The technique worked very well, but the flavors just did not cut it for me. Had to finish mine off with some Sweet Baby Rays to salvage it. I'll be on the lookout for a different marinade."

Feb 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Outstanding! Halved the recipe as I was making just 2 New York strip steaks, and substituted the vegetable oil with olive oil. None of the ingredients overpowered the others, the marinade just seems to bring out the natural flavor of the steak. Works more like a tenderizer. Very tender and juicy result.""

Nov 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

After eating dry turkey for 56 years, from my mother to my wife and everyone else in between, I decided to take matters into my own hands this year. After studying all the recipes and reviews, and "Thanksgiving Live", etc., etc., I chose this recipe. The brine gave the turkey an incredible flavor. Maybe my expectations were too high, the turke...

Oct 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

They're OK, but nothing to write home about. After reading the reviews I was expecting something that closely resembled the biscuits from that famous seafood restaurant. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The garlic definitely needs to be upped, the texture was so-so. Since no biscuit mix recipe is mentioned, I looked at some of the other bi...

Outstanding, perhaps a tad sweeter than ideal for my tastes, but not overly sweet. I'll probably back the sugar down 1/4 cup next time. The crust came out perfect, I wouldn't change a thing. I topped it off with home made whipped cream, YUM. Can't wait to try this with other fruit, or a combination of fruits. ""

Reviewed Split Pea Soup with Ham Hocks

Sep 15, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was disappointing. Split pea soup just tastes plain good, however you make it. It warms the soul. But the smoked ham hocks, as smokey as the smelled in the package, did not distribute that smokiness to the rest of the soup. The ham hocks are very salty themselves, but do not make the soup salty. There is plenty of meat on the ham hocks ...
