Reviewed Cheddar-Horseradish Soup

Nov 4, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was a good recipe, instead of water I used beef stock and it was rich, creamy, and delicious. For those of you wondering what the yield is, my husband and I got 4 servings out of this (2 each). Best with shaved cheddar on top, next time will add croutons for some crunch"

The taste of the cheesecake is disappointingly bland, definitely use more than just a pinch of salt. I put in 1/4 tsp and some pepper, next time I'll use a 1/2 tsp. I will say that the cake came out beautifully and looks exactly like the one in the photograph. It just needs something else to make it worth the calories and fat! Maybe sun-dried tom...

The coconut custard is delicious!! I have never made custard before this recipe, and I am so pleased with how it turned out. I made it last night (before I had to go to the ER and then OR... glad I got this out of the way!) for my fiance's family's christmas party per his grandmother's request. I decided to make it the day before so I could chill...

Reviewed Banana Cream Pie with Caramel Drizzles and Chocolate Sauce

Dec 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

i have had the actual version of this dessert at Emeril's restaurant in Orlando, and I have to say that I was skeptical when I saw the recipe. It just seemed too simple! (I opted not to make my own chocolate and caramel sauce). It's just plan custard and banana slices? Too good to me true.

This recipe has knocked my socks off. The...

Dec 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

What a GREAT recipe! A new favorite, for sure! Not only is it so easy, it is so quick and easy to clean up after. There's only one bowl to clean! The peppermint extract adds just the right amount of flavor to the chocolate, and the peppermint candies are a fun treat. I was worried about biting into them, but they break very easily. ""

Reviewed Chocolate Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies

Dec 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

These are pretty, but I would not make them again. The cookie was a little dry, so I melted chocolate to add as a design and add some moisture. The chocolate part of the dough is a little difficult to work with and separates and peels away from the peppermint dough easily. I would recommend laying the peppermint dough down first and having the ch...

These were wonderful! However, 3 tablespoons of coffee powder made the coffee taste a little too strong. Ina always says how you shouldn't taste too much of the coffee as it's role is to bring out the flavor of the chocolate, but I thought this much was overpowering.

I'm making them again soon and plan on using milk chocolate chips...

Reviewed Devon's Award-Winning Chili

Aug 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe is delicious. I would liken the consistency to a hearty stew but the chili taste is definitely there. However, it was VERY spicy and my fiance couldn't handle it, so I had 8 servings of chili all to myself. I would recommend doing teaspoons of the cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes, but all other spices the same. I think that would ...

Reviewed Duck Breast with Clementines and Tuscan Kale

Dec 27, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

SO delicious. The duck was incredibly juicy and flavorful. However, the duck breasts I got were not as big as the ones on the show, so next time I would only keep them in the oven for 5-6 minutes instead of 8.

Also, because of the remoteness of where I live, I cannot get fresh duck breast but only frozen breasts. As a result, only...

Reviewed Fish Tacos

Dec 26, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Definitely a delicious fish taco recipe. I tried using haddock, but found that it was too flaky and couldn't stand up to the frying. In the end, it looked like ground fish, but it tasted fantastic. I also used feta as a topping which added a salty bite. Definitely a repeat!
