Reviewed st. patrick's day green velvet layer cake

Mar 14, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Tastes like food coloring, not worth the calories or the time.

Good basic enchilada recipe-- not enchilada suizas though without the tomatilla salsa verde-- but good."

Great recipe, we've used it for sweet and savory recipes and it always turns out perfectly."

Reviewed Creamy Cheddar Soup

Feb 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good and very easly to play with. We made another version using a light beer instead of the stock and evaporated milk instead of the cream-- delicious-- a good blue cheese instead of a lot of the chedder, also delicious. Jalapenos instead of pimentos..... the list goes on and my kids love it so it's a win."

Sadly disappointing. The onion rings we so greasy they left a puddle on the plate and were soggy with grease. We ordered the blue cheese burger, it was a dry burger that you could barely taste the blue cheese on. Our table also ordered the meatloaf- lukewarm- and for all of us the french fries were soggy. We won't be going back unfortunately."

Delicious and easy, the toasted cocnut is delicious but we've also made other variations rfom vanilla bean to chocolate/peppermint and they always work out perfectly."

Reviewed Flourless Walnut-Date Cake

Delicious! I was looking for a different gluten-free dessert, so glad I tried this. We served it with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and everyone loved it."

Worked perfectly both as a vanilla but also as a coconut frosting."

Reviewed Cioppino

Feb 21, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very good stew (it needs crab to be cioppino, but great flavors. We had to leave out the fish due to allergy but replaced it with some fresh dungeoness and used a good vegetable stock for the same reason-- delicious. The fennel really gives it a nice, oceany flavor. A very good bread for dipping is a necessity.""

Reviewed Alton Brown's Molasses-and-Coffee Pork Chops

Feb 21, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious! I ended up using it on a loin instead of chops- the taste was wonderful, nice, flavorful and moist. We've remade it a few times and it always turns out well.""

No one in my family even finished theirs, the taco seasoning thing with the fish-- just wrong-- maybe if you've never had a good fresh fish taco or something (and my kids love tacos of any kind. ""

Reviewed Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

This tasted strongly of food coloring and nothing else, maybe it's a southern aquired taste or something but these were awful- I'm glad I cut the recipe in half. ""

Reviewed Flourless Chocolate Cake

Feb 10, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Good flavor but the cooking times are way off, ours was done after about 35-40 minutes, it wasn't burned but did seem dry compared to other flourless cakes. I added some grated orange zest for a little extra kick and that was delicious. You can "flour" the pan with cocoa powder to avoid any gluten.""

Reviewed Tapioca Cake

Feb 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yuck. This was really just too artificial, sickeningly sweet and we ended up throwing most of it away- even my kids wouldn't eat it and generally speaking we love tapioca, blueberries and coconut. And, with just a little experience a from scratch cake and icing is about as easy and will taste 100% better.""
