Reviewed pork chops with apples and pancetta

9 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

This was amazing. I did not use brandy -- used fresh, local apple cider instead. I used Nieman Ranch applewood smoked bacon because I had no pancetta on hand & sending my husband into the grocery on his way home to find "Pan-what?" would have been more trouble than it's worth! I doubled the sauce as others recommended & I'm so glad I did....

This was easy & delicious and my 22 month-old AND my 5 year-old both loved it. Enough said.

Reviewed Barefoot Contessa's Oven Roasted Bacon

Jul 20, 2014 in on Food.com

SECRET TO NO SMOKE: You have to start this in a COLD oven, line your baking sheet with foil and PUT IT ON A LOWER RACK in the oven. I tried bacon in the oven once before and decided it was a huge mess: it smoked up the house, spit all over the place etc. The problem was that I stuck cold bacon in a screaming hot oven just a rack or two below the...

Reviewed cheddar bacon wedge salad

Jun 15, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This is a great dressing recipe. Yes, it makes a lot but it should also hold well in the fridge so you can use it for several dinner or lunch salads. It's great as a veggie dip too & I bet it would be equally good as a sandwich spread. As for washing the lettuce, I buy organic for this wedge salad and peel off the outer layers. Thanks so much...

Reviewed pasta with pancetta and leeks

Jan 31, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This needed a lot more pancetta -- at least double the amount called for in the recipe. I used three leeks and two large garlic cloves plus butter and olive oil and loads more parmesan cheese. Still, it lacked in flavor. My husband said right away that it needed more "bacon or whatever". If I make it again I will use just two leeks, more pancetta...

Reviewed Philly Cheese Steak

Jun 4, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Hmm ... not exactly what I was hoping. The sauce really isn't like any of the Philly's I've had. It's certainly a different take on the sandwich. Not bad but not great either. I ended up shredding some cheddar into the sauce because it just seemed lacking. Then I melted American cheese on the steak and used this sauce as like a butter of sorts on "

Anyone who tries this turkey will be wowed. It seems like a lot when you look at the ingredient list for the brine but it seriously assembles in five minutes flat and you're done. Tomorrow will be my third time making a turkey this way -- I won't do a turkey any other way. For those who asked about using the drippings -- NO!! -- you cannot use th...

Incredible and lovely. This is just pure joy. I called my mom and told her about this recipe because she cannot eat the skins of blueberries and misses having them. I was able to press this through a strainer and get a nice, thick blueberry syrup without skins -- which is good for very young children as well. However, it's wonderful with the whole"
