Reviewed Skillet Rosemary Chicken

Sep 22, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

made this tonight and it was delicious. i also, like other reviewers, deglazed the pan with white wine and added butter to make a delicious sauce. i think the sauce made the dish. used bone-in, skin-on breasts and they came out moist and tender. my picky son loved it, especially the potatoes and mushrooms. a definite keeper!"

Reviewed Stone Fruit Cobbler

Aug 6, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Delicious! Used plums, strawberries and blueberries, as my son is allergic to peaches. I did have to cook it about 15-20 minutes longer to get the top a bit more brown. Would be good with any fruits I think! Loved the plums. Thank you Jamie!

i thought the chicken mixture had no flavor and was dry...the marinara was all i could taste and i didn't even put very much on it. i had high hopes after reading the reviews but this wasn't a hit, it was a miss."

Reviewed Braised Orange Brisket

May 26, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

The marinade gave the brisket an OK flavor, but it was dry and the marinade on the bottom side of the meat burned and stuck to the bottom of the dutch oven. I couldn't brown the brisket in oil because when i tried, it burned the marinade. the recipe didn't say if you were supposed to rinse the marinade off...and i chose not to. maybe that was a"

I thought it was good, but the Worcestershire was an overwhelming flavor. I would use less of it next time. I added more pineapple juice because i like the sweet flavor of it on steak. I'm eating leftovers right now!"

Reviewed Broccoli Cheese Soup

Feb 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

very bland. it needed much more cheese than 3 cups, and a lot of salt. didn't care for pepper in this soup. it was edible with changes, but as written it wasn't good at all to any of us. won't be making it again."

Dec 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

made this soup tonight and it was wonderful. to make it more hearty i added cooked ground beef. i used chicken stock (don't care for beef stock), and a lot more than what was called for as i like my soup with a lot of broth. also added a little bacon drippings for extra flavor, 2 cans of beans, pureed 1 of them and added the other whole, and al"

Reviewed Green Beans with Lemon and Garlic

Dec 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

These green beans are delicious! I added more zest and a lot of the juice from the lemon because I liked the flavor so much. A few spoonfuls of bacon drippings and YUM! I'm making these again for Christmas dinner and am going to add some new potatoes. And again, lots of zest and lemon juice! "

Reviewed Foolproof Standing Rib Roast

Dec 13, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

i made this recipe as a test before serving on Christmas. asked the butcher for a 3 lb. bone-in prime rib roast and when i got it home it was a 4.5 lb. a bit pricey for just testing a recipe, as it was only me who would be trying it. the rest of my family is out of town. seasoned it with house seasoning, cooked 1 hour at 375, then turned oven "

I didn't like this soup at all. It tasted too tomatoey even though i drained the tomatoes. there was no flavor to it even after i added additional spices and garlic. Absolutely won't be making this again."

Reviewed Scalloped Potato Gratin

Nov 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

these potatoes were great! i did use a lot more cream than called for, because the cream didn't come to the top layer of potatoes and they seemed a bit dry, so added more after cooking awhile. i also used way more parmesan cheese on the top layer, about 1-1/2 cups because i love the taste of the golden cheese when baked. used a 9 x 9 nonstick p"

Reviewed Roasted Shrimp Cocktail

Oct 31, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

The shrimp didn't taste good until I added some spray butter and Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. Just a little salt and pepper and a small amount of olive oil gave the shrimp no taste. I also didn't care for the consisency of the shrimp when roasted. I prefer shrimp sauteed in butter and olive oil and Tony Chachere's. This was disappointing "

This was excellent. Not greasy like the dip made with mayonnaise. Even my 6 year old niece liked it. My only change next time would be to add more salt. Try it, you'll like it!"

Reviewed Skirt Steak

Sep 27, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Loved the marinade. Used it on sirloin steak, which doesn't have much marbling, but the marinade made it very tender and juicy. Cooked it medium rare. Marinated it for about 2 hours, then wiped the marinade off and put olive oil on it before cooking so it wouldn't stick to the grill. next time I think I'll use pineapple juice instead of lime ju"

Reviewed Chicken Tetrazzini

Apr 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I thought the recipe was pretty good, not great. It was kind of plain. If I made it again I would make more sauce and not cook it as long, because after baking the dish there wasn't much sauce left. When reheating in the microwave I added some half & half, and it was better. Also, needed more salt than the recipe called for. My 16 yo son love"
