Ahhhhmazing! I made this for Easter, and my family drank it up. It would be fabulous as a cocktail base too--little vodka or rum.""

Eh...it was alright. I wouldn't brag about it or anything. I have another recipe that is far better. I think perhaps using rendering from bacon would add some good flavoring to it.""

Dec 21, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this recipe 3 times now. The first time was entirely too salty. I had made it for my husband and dad, & they too commented on the salt content. The next time I cut both the season and house salt in about half. You have to keep in mind that salt comes from the soy sauce too. Also, I sauted some fresh mushrooms in w/ the onions. Las...

What a quick way to make an AMAZING dessert! I made this back in January for a little wine and appetizer party for my girlfriends, and they all loved it. I didn't have superfine sugar on hand, so I did use regular granulated sugar; it turned out fine. I did serve it w/ fresh raspberries and some raspberry sauce I made...couldn't have been tast...

Has anyone tried making this in a bunt cake pan? If so, what temp did you bake it, and how long? I just think it would look good...if it turned out.""

Reviewed Roasted Asparagus

Mar 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

So simple so flavorful. It's probably the best way to prepare asparagus, other than on the grill. I added a little garlic powder atop too. The husband loved it."

Reviewed Parmesan Smashed Potatoes

Mar 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Marvelous! I'm terrible at making mashed potatoes. They never seem to turn out quite right. (I know it's one of those basics that should be a given) I got this one right! I decided to crush about 3 garlic cloves and throw them in w/ the butter/cream mixture. I then took them out before mixing it in the potatoes. It was a great garlic undertone....

Reviewed Rib-Eye with Mustard-Beer Pan Sauce

Mar 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It was pretty good. I'm from KC, so grilling is almost a religion. It was my husband's birthday, & seeing as how someone borrowed our grill, I had to improvise. This was my first attempt at pan seared steak. It was juicy and flavorful. We had leftover sauce, and decided to freeze it to put atop roast at a later date."

Reviewed Peach French Toast Bake

Jan 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Pretty good. I used cinnamon raisin bread, cause I had it on hand. I also added a little brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the egg mixture. It's not french toast, but more like a drier bread pudding. SO easy. I made it the night before NYE, so all I had to do was pop it in the oven. Can't beat it!

Reviewed Hot Crab Dip

Jan 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Eh....It needed some extra kick. Also, I sorta think it would have tasted better cold. I used good crab meat too. I think I will serve it room temp with some extra hot sauce and see how it goes.

Reviewed Heirloom Carrot Spoon Cake

Jan 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It was like a cross between a bread pudding, and a cake. Really good, & SO easy. Make sure to put paper towels under the lid to absorb the moisture. It looks like that step was left out of the instructions. I made a cream cheese frosting to go atop, and it was just the right touch.

Delightful. I used pecans instead of walnuts, and I toasted slices of a french baguette in the oven to spread it on. Sweet and savory.

Reviewed White Bean and Roasted Eggplant Hummus

Dec 14, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Not a huge fan of original hummus, but I really like this! I would use just a bit less parsley than called for though. I'm def. going to try others suggestions for spicing it up w/ cumin or paprika. Giada, you've done it again!

Great recipe, and fabulous flavor. I used fresh grated ginger once because I was out of rosemary. I've made them twice, and everyone loved them. Does anyone else have an issue w/ them sticking really bad? I used both foil and parchment paper. Parchment paper def. turned out better, but I would line the sheet w/ foil first then the paper so nothing...

It would taste okay w/ canned cranberry, but my husband and I both agreed it would taste better w/ something like raspberry jam. It needed that sweet....

Hey, thanks Ninoshka1. I was just reading the ingredients in this recipe, & realized I had it all but chili sauce. I too was thinking of using Siracha as a substitute. I figured I would look to see if anyone else used subs, & you were the first reviewer...it turned out great!

Reviewed Pear Gorgonzola Tart

Nov 2, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

This is so easy, & tastes great! For those who were complaining of the cheese being difficult to spread, make sure it is room temperature before whipping it. Also, if you put the mixture in the crust as soon as it comes out of the oven it helps to further soften and spread it. I used herbs de provence, & goat cheese because that's what I had on...
