Too oily. Too much artificial taste from the food coloring. I have had red velvet cake many times. I may be sensitive to the food coloring taste, but not the oil. I am one of those people that never say something is too sweet or too rich. However this was just too oily! I did not like this recipe at all. I am a very accomplished cook, I bake often....

Why do many people leave reviews on altererd recipes, you are not giving an accurate review on the recipe. If you used FRESH potatoes IT'S NOT THE SAME THING! Powdered alfredo sauce? Really?!

I found the additional 3 tbls of oil was too much. It was not needed with all the grease from the sausage. I also found that the sausage in the gravy was not needed with fried steak. I like it for breakfast. I think thats why I never saw it served this way, I have lived in the south for quite some time. I've never seen anyone make it with sausage...
