Reviewed Quadruple Chocolate Loaf Cake

"I like this cake for it's simplicity. I made it last night in the food processor as the recipe stated, and it burned out the motor of my machine (OK, it WAS 25 yrs old..... Made it again tonight in the stand mixer by first creaming the butter with the sugar, then adding in everything else. Not sure why the processor was preferred in the original recipe to begin with. I didn't think the glaze added anything special - too sugary and not chocolaty enough. I'll make a fudgier one for the next one. "

Reviewed Lemon Poppyseed Pound Cake

"Very nice cake. I thought 3 Tablespoons of poppy seed was too much, so next time I'll try only 2. I didn't make the glaze, but next time I'll just make a white glaze. The syrup was great! The cake overall was VERY lemony and sharp - I got great reviews."

Reviewed Sweet Potato Chili Cakes with Cilantro Lime Sauce

"These were GREAT! I didn't have fresh jalapeno, so I used some jarred roasted jalapenos, which worked great. Also had some store-bought, very spicy, cilantro-lime salsa on hand so I added that to the sour cream, and some extra lime juice.

We eat sweet potatoes often, and this was a nice, new and fun way to have them. Will definitely make them again. Much faster, too, than waiting for them to cook in the oven.

Reviewed Almond-Pine Nut Macaroons

"I liked these. I thought they were a bit too sweet, though - the tops carmelized and the cookies stayed chewy-crisp in my mouth and reminded me of candy. Next time I would add less sugar and beat less long after the egg whites, as they were too light and airy - I like a more dense almond cookie.
