Reviewed Beatty's Chocolate Cake

Aug 4, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Absolutely brilliant recipe! I was weary about adding the coffee but it came out amazing and I couldn't even detect a coffee taste. My family loved it and this will surely become one of my go to recipes."

Reviewed Drop Biscuits

May 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Ended up needing biscuits for my meal last minute and found this recipe. I halved the recipe as I didn't need to make that many biscuits and I still ended up making over 25 medium sized biscuits. The recipe is quick an easy, I would make this again, maybe only third the recipe next time though as it really does make a lot of biscuits."

Reviewed Chicken Stew with Lemon and Rosemary

Apr 29, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a great base recipe that is easy to alter according to your needs. My husband isn't a big pasta fan so I added diced potatoes to the pot to make it a little heartier. I also didn't make the roux and just left it with the homemade chicken stock. It was really excellent and since it was a one pot meal I can see this becoming a regular meal."

Reviewed Parsnip Muffins

Apr 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Absolutely brilliant! I know I put the parsnips in there but I could barely even tell they were there. Even my 15 month old enjoyed them. I'm considering using only 4-6oz of sugar next time.

Tweeks: I used half whole wheat flour and half AP. I used both fresh ground nutmeg and cinnamon. I used 4 oz of blueberry greek yogurt. I also...

Reviewed Mushroom Risotto with Peas

Apr 23, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was amazing! I've made risotto a lot of times but this is the best recipe I've found. I used Oyster, Shitake and Baby Bella mushrooms."

Reviewed Fusilli with Spinach and Asiago Cheese

Apr 22, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

So easy and flavorful! This will surely become a regular meal in our house. I used a veggie rotini pasta and instead of asiago I used pecorino romano. I doubled the tomatoes as well and instead of halving them I just slightly squeezed them with tongs as they were cooking to let out their juices."

Reviewed Lemon Broccoli Rabe

Apr 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Really enjoyed this. I went a little light on the oil and used the juice of half a lemon to compensate. It worked really well. The lemon really cuts down the bitterness of the broccoli rabe. I was surprised as I cook with broccoli rabe often and it is often quite over powering."

Reviewed Homemade Soft Pretzels

Apr 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Such a great recipe! The recipe was straight forward and easy. The only issue I had was even though I oiled the baking sheet the pretzels still stuck and it ruined the backs of many of them. In the future I will forgo to the parchment paper.."

Reviewed Chili Rice

Apr 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Such an easy and delicious recipe. I used ground turkey and instead of water I used extra vegetable stock I had on hand. It was so flavorful and aromatic. This is going into regular rotation at my house."

Reviewed Jicama Slaw

Apr 14, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent side dish! I will be making this regularly. The only thing I did differently was minus the red pepper as I am not a fan of raw peppers. Otherwise this recipe was spot on and the marinade was perfect for it. It is a lot of prep work and as I do not possess great knife skills I might need to invest in a mandoline for convenience."

Reviewed Lemon Sugar Cookies with Sandy's Colored Sugar

Apr 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I'm really disappointed in this recipe. I read the reviews before baking so I was prepared for flat cookies, but just how flat was shocking.

I started with a test batch of six on a sheet pan and by the time they were ready it was pretty close to looking like a cookie cake. For the next batch cooked them in a muffin pan thinking...

Reviewed Turkey Meatballs with Quick And Spicy Tomato Sauce and Whole-Wheat Spaghetti

Apr 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Love this recipe! My husband likes a thinner sauce, so I puree the tomatoes and onion. Also, while I loved the carrots in the meatball my husband did not. Next time I'm thinking of either doing a finer chop to the carrots than grating or maybe just add a few tsp of carrot puree. "

Reviewed Lamb Burgers

Apr 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've only made the pita so far and they are amazing! It's a brilliant recipe and I would have never thought I could make my own whole wheat pita so easily. The hardest part was waiting the hour and a half for the dough to rise. I cannot wait to try the lamb burger recipe."

Reviewed Mixed Roasted Potatoes With Herb Butter

Mar 31, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Loved this recipe. Will be making this again. My family loved the herb butter with the mixed potatoes. It is important to let the potatoes dry before roasting if you want that extra crunch."

Reviewed Crown Roast of Lamb

Mar 31, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I really loved the rub for the lamb. I was weary of the coriander but it was very good. However, the sauce with the mustard and vinegar was not enjoyed by my family. I'm very happy I left it on the side as it would have ruined the dinner had I drizzled it over the lamb."

Reviewed Cinnamon Rolls

Mar 31, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My family loved this recipe. I omitted the raisins/nuts and just made it with brown sugar and cinnamon. I only baked it for 22 mins instead of 30 and that was perfect. "

Reviewed Pasta with Pancetta and Leeks

Mar 16, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Really enjoyed this. I did use the butter with the leeks and chardonnay for the wine. I'm thinking of using a different wine next time, I feel like the chardonnay was a little over powering for this dish."
