I love Rachel but this recipe is blah. I made it exactly as written in the recipe. It was extremely bland and definitely needs more ingredients and more seasoning. This is not the first time that one of Rachel's recipes has lacked flavor. Wont be making it again. All five of us at the table found it barely palatable. "

I enjoyed the pot roast and so did the family. The taste was very good and flavor-filled. I added thyme and rosemary because I didn't have a bay leaf and it tasted good. Made this recipe exactly as written and it does take a fair amount of time from start to finish. The end pudding is not overly sweet. The chocolate sauce definitely brings the whole recipe together and makes it tasty. Without the chocolate sauce I am not sure that I would have given it 4 stars. ""
