Reviewed Winter Minestrone

Oct 24, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Fabulous!! The flavors are amazing. I substituted spinach for the swiss chard and zucchini for the celery. I also followed suggestions from others and used 2 cans of cannellini beans, using one can with the broth in the processor and it gave the soup that perfect consistency. Will definitely make again!

Not good. I love Ina's recipes, but this one is lacking. Too much crust with flour and dry fruit. I've baked Ina's Peach and Raspberry Crisp and that was AMAZING! I think I will use that recipe, but substitute the peaches and raspberries with apples and cranberries.

Reviewed Pumpkin Waffles With Trail-Mix Topping

Sep 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

WOW!! These were so delicious! I cheated and used the 1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin and they were still amazing. They were a little heavier than my usual waffle recipe so I think I will pour a little less batter in the waffle iron to get a thinner, crispier texture next time. My kitchen smells divine! "

Reviewed Chili Beef Stir-Fry with Scallions and Snow Peas

Sep 1, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

VERY TASTY!!! I doubled the sauce, as others suggested, but left the cornstarch at 2 tsp. I added bell peppers and it was perfect! The sauce is a little spicy so I might reduce the amount of chili sauce next time. Perfect with rice!"

Reviewed Peach and Raspberry Crisp

Delicious!!! The flavor of the raspberries mixed with the peaches is wonderful! I halfed the recipe and also added 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon to the oat topping. Peeling the peaches took a little more time than I expected, but it's worth it!"

Reviewed Potatoes Gratin

Jul 21, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious! Easy to make and so much flavor. I skipped the chives and sauteed some chopped scallions in a little EVOO instead. I mixed them in with the potato mixture to bake and it was so good! I also baked mine 20 min. extra, as some others suggested, so that the potatoes would be tender."

Jul 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Wasn't as good as I expected. I cut the mayo in half, as others had suggested, but the mustard and pickle juice was overpowering for my taste. I will try it again and cut those ingredients back. Everything else about it was good."

Reviewed Vanilla Ice Cream

Jul 1, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

So easy and delicious!! I took the advice of others and used 1 cup heavy cream, 1 cup half and half, and 1 cup milk. Tasted amazing and not too rich. I also stirred in crushed oreos right before serving to make cookies-n-cream. Yummy!"

Reviewed Texas Oven-Roasted Beef Brisket

Jun 16, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

DELICIOUS & TENDER!! I've never had good luck with brisket. Mine always came out tough. This recipe is perfect! I took some tips from the previous reviews and used 1 Tbsp. of salt instead of 2 Tbsp. I also used the beef broth and then added a little red wine. I cooked it for an hour at 300 degrees and then 4 hrs. at 280 degrees (as someone h"

Reviewed Carrot Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Jun 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I was looking for a carrot cake recipe that's to die for and I just baked this one today. It was really good, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite. It is easy, however, and the lemon cream cheese frosting is delicious! "

Reviewed Cuban Baked Chicken with Sweet Peppers and Yellow Rice

Jun 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very tasty! I changed a couple of things...when it was done baking, it needed a little more chicken broth. I also replaced the peas with a can of black beans (drained and rinsed), as one review suggested. I added both the broth and the beans and let it sit for about 5 min. It was perfect!"

So delicious and easy to make! After the first batch, I cut the rum in half...it doesn't taste strong, but it is!! Will definitely use this recipe again! "

Wow! These were delicious! I followed the tip on heating the oven to 200 degrees and then turning it off and letting the dough rise in the warm oven...worked beautifully! I also lowered the temp. as some suggested and they turned out great! Perfect frosting!"

BEST EVER!! The perfect combination of sweet and tart. The only thing I will change next time is to add a little more butter to the graham cracker crust. It didn't hold together as well as I would have liked. "
