"I made this for a dinner party we hosted the other week. I followed the instructions to the letter and it turned out perfect! I made it the night before and let it chill in the refrigerator overnight. I heated it up the next day about an hour before the guests arrived and I swear....the flavors got even better then the day before.
Do not be intimidated by this recipe.
The only thing I did differently from your recipe is that I cooked mine in a dutch oven at 250 for nearly 3.5 hours. This is quite longer than the recipe calls for but I just wasn't pleased with the tenderness of the meat after 1 hour 15 minutes.

"I'm sure it's silly to review this recipe since at this time it has over 400 reviews. I'll keep this short and sweet. If you're looking for a homemade pot pie recipe that'll blow your family and friends away...look no further. Ina is on point here with this one. It also freezes beautifully. I put the mixture in disposable individual tin pans, cover with the pie crust, put them in ziplock bags and throw them in the freezer until I need a quick dinner. A little prep work on a lazy sunday brings a delicious dinner a few weeks later.
I also cheat and use a costco rotisserie chicken....(sshhhhh)

"Whoa! Made this tonight for dinner and was very pleased with how it turned out. I followed the recipe exactly (used chicken stock instead of cream for potatoes as suggested for healthy alternative)and was really happy with the flavors. I honestly do not understand how some said it lacked flavor? Maybe if you didn't salt the water for the potatoes or something.....very puzzled by those reviews.
Try this recipe...especially as we approach the cooler months. You will not be disappointed! Thanks RR for another knock out meal!
