Reviewed chocolate lava cakes

Mar 30, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

My teenage son asked me to make a dessert tonight, so I knew to check Ree's recipes. I've wanted to find a good chocolate lava cake recipe for a while, but they always seemed too involved. Not the case here, and this recipe was a hit. It paid off to have all of the ingredients laid out in advance, which isn't something I normally do. But watch...

5 stars without a doubt although out of desperation I deviated from the recipe. I've been craving this dessert since I saw the show but made a serious mistake -- I assumed I had all of the ingredients. After all, the ingredients should always be in every kitchen, right? Little did I know that my husband and son had used all of my regular Hershey'"

Reviewed Pecan Pie

This pie was incredible. I followed the directions to the letter, although I admit I used a frozen pie crust to save time and effort. I used the standard crust which was a little small; the filling spilled over a bit, so be sure to line your cookie sheet with foil too assuming you will use one to hold your pie. Either that or use a deep dish froze"

This is the first time I've made hollandaise sauce from scratch. I made what I consider a mistake by adding all the lemon juice from the get go. I must have had lemons on steroids, because it was too lemony even though a quick check of the net says by itself it will be. I'll start with one lemon's juice next time and add from there."

Reviewed Carrie's Grit Cakes with Rosanne's Gravy

Jun 9, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is a good alternative for serving grits. It is easy to make--takes about 20 minutes for the grits to cool enough to cut (I used a biscuit cutter). I made them as a side to eggs benedict, so I used the hollandaise sauce to dress them up. It was "good," but I am confident they will be great if made with sausage gravy like the recipe call"

Reviewed Cinnamon Baked French Toast

Jun 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was really easy to make, and you can't go wrong with a make ahead breakfast casserole. I used the French bread, cutting it into 1 to 1-1/2 inch cubes. I might cut them even smaller next time. Otherwise I followed the recipe to the letter, and it was incredible -- with or without the syrup. A really nice change from the breakfast dishes that"

Reviewed Meatloaf

Jun 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

In the 20 years I've been married I never made meatloaf. There was always something about the spoof Brady Bunch show that made meatloaf seem repulsive (if you've never seen the show, they made a farce about Alice's unhealthy cooking and showed about five pounds of raw ground beef on a platter representing meatloaf). Then I saw the Pioneer Woman e"

Reviewed Twice-Baked New Potatoes

Jun 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I'm usually not a potato fan, but these were easy to make and delicious. Based on some of the other reviews, I added a little cheddar cheese and topped them off with a little bit of crisp, crumbled bacon. They were a hit I'll be making again. "
