Reviewed Crostini with Sun-Dried Tomato Jam

The jam is so delicious!

Reviewed Polenta Sunrise

Dec 29, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this recipe for a holiday party this year, and I liked the presentation, but the recipe was just OK as written. I wanted the polenta to be more flavorful, so I used vegetable broth instead of water for it, which bumps the taste up. The tomato confit is a little acidic -- the next time I made these, I used Giada's recipe for tomato jam (Crostini...

Dec 8, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I've used this recipe for two different events and they both came out fantastic. The secret is the temperature -- don't go over 137 degrees and you'll have wonderfully moist, tender, flavorful pork.

Reviewed Grilled Beef Tenderloin on Focaccia Toasts

Dec 8, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I sauteed a sirloin steak to medium on the stovetop (it was -10 degrees out here today! -- no grilling for me!) and made Anne Burrell's focaccia recipe. It turned out great! Very tasty. The chili mayo is awesome -- I just used some jarred roasted red peppers from the store and it came out nicely. A winner!

Reviewed Best Ever Green Bean Casserole

Used Trader Joe's frozen green beans instead of fresh, and used their Gourmet Fried Onions instead of making them, but everything turned out delicious!

Reviewed Winter Minestrone

Nov 9, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Great soup! I used kale instead of chard and didn't puree the beans because I don't have a food processor. I also didn't have any celery... Even with these changes, it's delicious, simple, and healthy -- what more could you want?? I had a half a baguette (Emeril's French bread recipe -- super easy and tasty) in the freezer so I warmed it up in the...

Great soup! I used kale instead of chard and didn't puree the beans because I don't have a food processor, but pretty much followed the rest of the recipe. It's delicious, simple, and healthy -- what more could you want?? I had a half a baguette (Emeril's French bread recipe -- super easy and tasty) in the freezer so I warmed it up in the oven...

I think a hard Italian cheese like Parmesan or Romano would probably work well with it...

Replied to Butternut Squash, Apple and Onion Galette with Stilton

Oct 23, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

An additional note: When making individual galettes using a muffin pan, I doubled the pastry crust recipe and was able to make 16 galettes with the single batch of filling. I weighed out the dough into 40 gram pieces so they were even and rolled them out individually for each muffin cup. They took about 30 minutes to bake, rotating the pans halfway...

Reviewed Butternut Squash, Apple and Onion Galette with Stilton

Oct 23, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this recipe a couple of times and I love it! I brought it as an appetizer to a Thanksgiving dinner some friends were hosting, so I used a muffin tin to make individual galettes that were easier to hold and eat with your hands. I cut up the veggies into small dice instead of wedges in order to fit them in the muffin cups, but it works beautifully...

Reviewed Chocolate Fudge Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Chocolate Ganache Glaze

Jul 7, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this cake two times and both times it turned out really well. Nice and chocolatey and moist! I used mommys04's frosting recipe (very delicious!! see review below -- I made 1.5x the recipe for a 3-layer cake) because 1.5 lb of butter is waaaayy too much for only 3 cups of sugar! And I didn't make the ganache because it's already a very r"

Jul 6, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this jam for the first time a couple of years ago and I'm just finishing up the last of it -- it keeps for a long time, and still tastes fresh and delicious! At that time I wasn't sure about the pepper so I made some without it and some with it, and I definitely like it WITH the pepper. It gives a nice extra dimension to the taste and take"

Reviewed Honey Cornbread Muffins

May 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

If you're in the mood for a great sweet cornbread, this is the recipe for you. It's a well-crafted recipe and the 15-minute baking time was spot on, so that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. However, I'm used to making a more New England style cornbread without (or with very little) sugar, so if that's what you're going for, you should keep looking. My"

Reviewed Grilled Vegetable Lasagna with Puttanesca Sauce and Pesto Oil

Sep 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Wow. This was delicious, as Emeril's recipes usually are. I ended up not making the pesto oil and I'm glad I didn't, because with the oil that I used from broiling the veggies I think it would have made the dish too oily (grilling the veggies, as recommended in the recipe, would probably do fine with the extra pesto oil). In addition to not us...

Wonderful! I had this tonight with some homemade, whole-wheat pasta from the farmer's market. For a side dish, I sauteed some zucchini, peppers, and peas in olive oil and mixed Italian herbs. It was so delicious. kjgrindle, your ingredients probably cooled too much when you mixed them together. I've been making an alfredo recipe similar to this...
