Cranberries instead of cherries, Parmesan instead of ricotta, sunflowers seeds instead of pine nuts, and even added a bit of pure maple syrup to the dressing. Either way it's always delicious. P.S. "This is one of my favorite stews. In fact I grow the butternut squash in my garden just because I want to insure I have some when I want to make it. There is NO alterations needed what so ever on the recipe. My whole family loves it, and I even make it for special occasions often. Thanks Giada!"
