Reviewed Carrot Raisin Salad

Nov 3, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Why did I even look at this "recipe" when I was searching for a carrot slaw/salad. Pre-grated carrots? I would prefer to be more "chef-like" and grate my own. And why give the exact measurement in cups and then explain it again in "handfuls" What kind of man-hands do you have to have to be able to hold a cupful in them? But as always, thanks for ...

Aug 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Looking for a recipe for Giardiniera led me to this "recipe". Thanks for telling me I can find it "from bulk bins of market near olives, or jarred". Actually, every ingredient listed here has a tip where to find them in the supermarket. And the directions for serving are terrible. Arrange "piles of hot pepper salad, etc..." that stuff is so oily ...

Reviewed Best Hot Dogs

Mar 4, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

this is seriously the "best" hot dogs recipe?! i prefer mine grilled, with some sort of condiment, and also in some sort of serving apparatus such as a hot dog bun. not some floppy tube of boiled meat soaking in water. oh, i'm sorry, extra salty water. food network, i give up. "

Reviewed Glove Compartment Snack

Feb 25, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Although this recipe looks tempting and delicious, I found it very hard to eat from my glove compartment. Maybe if one pulls over to the side of the road and has a "sit-down" meal it would work."

somehow stumbled upon this "recipe" and unfortunately only have some dried garbanzo beans and berries i picked off a bush outside. i'll give that a whirl. thanks!

Reviewed Cheese Platter

Feb 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

the "best" cheese i can find is a slightly dated box of velveeta. i love the idea of a nice presentation on leaves, but the only thing growing around here now is pine. so, i took this idea and rocked it! a beautiful presentation indeed, but is pine sap bad for you? my fiancee is itching like crazy. maybe he doesn't appreciate my efforts. hmmm...

Reviewed Microwave Aromatherapy Hot Towels

Feb 4, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

since the review "prompt" question asks if these were tasty, i would have to say not at all. since i didn't have any rosemary sprigs, i used the herbs/condiments i had:dried mexican oregano, cayenne pepper and celery salt. i thought this would go great with the spicy tex-mex dinner i had planned, but no! my guests looked at me in quiet disgust (i...

this "recipe" is awesome! i managed to find those gold coin dark chocolates and just gobbled them up (more than 1oz, i was naughty) and after being satisfied, i noticed i was sporting a shiny gold "grill" from those pretty wrappers. now when i walk around my hood, all the homies think i am the most "down" white chick on the block! thank fn!

I don't like peas. Can any other veggie be substituted or can I just serve the melted butter?

um, "bbq" size oysters?? i grew up on the east coast, have eaten, caught and purchased a lot of seafood/shell fish in my day, yet have never come across "bbq" sized oysters. a side note: cheese + shell fish=no.

Wow! This recipe worked far better for me than Rachel Ray's 13 min microwave bacon! Since a pizza blew up in my 'wave and I couldn't get it all off, the bacon didn't taste as good. But the oven was a great idea! Since I hadn't cleaned my oven in over a year, the smoke that was created from "roasting" the bacon set off my fire alarm, sending the entire...

I followed this to a t & did not like it at all! Those pretty green tops are very fibrous, as was the knotty skin attached to it. I don't know why you have to make everything so difficult, Rachel Ray.

Reviewed Late Night Bacon

Nov 15, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

I believed I previously commented on this recipe Nov 10th, yet my comment was removed also. Simply asking if toilet paper may be substituted in lieu of paper towels does not warrant censorship, does it now? Or was it the reference to using a cut and flattened toilet paper cardboard roll as a "soaker" for the grease. Either way, shame on you, "Food...

What is microwave ready-crisp bacon? Has it been already cooked in the microwave, thus making it crispy? They don't sell "crispy" bacon at my local supermarket! It's either maplewood, or smoked or somesuch. Darn, another RR recipe I can't make.

If I don't have any paper towels can I use toilet paper? How many squares should I spare for the bacon? Or if I run out or toilet paper can I use the cardboard roll, cut open and flattened out? Then I would have to cut the bacon in half first, so it would be appetizer-sized. That would be more of a late-night appy, right Rach?
