Reviewed Baked French Toast Casserole with Maple Syrup
"My boyfriend is obsessed with this recipe. He always requests that I make it when he has friends over so that he can brag about how good of a cook I am :) He even swore me not to tell anyone that he thinks it is better than his mother's. Definitely a keeper recipe!!!
Reviewed Fruit and Nut Holiday Shortbread
"Absolutely drool dripping spectacular. Now, I should preface my critique by just letting the world know that shortbread is my favorite cookie, so that might have swayed my opinion about these just a little. But really, these cookies have a buttery, salty taste that pairs perfectly with the sweet and tart chocolate cranberry topping. The recipe is simple, and the outcome looks and tastes very elegant. Yum, yum, YUM is all I can say. I will DEFINITELY make these again, but next time I would double the topping recipe (I had a few cookies that were naked). HIGHLY recommended.
Reviewed Sunny's Holiday PB and J Thumbprints
"I was SO excited when I saw this recipe because, well, to put it lightly, I’m a peanut butter FREAK; so much so, that I don’t allow myself to buy it because inevitably half of it will be gone in 20 minutes, and I’m left feeling really bad about myself. But enough of me and my problems. This recipe reminded me of childhood and the carefree days of eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and that is one of the things I love most about cooking/baking. Some smells and tastes just bring you right back to a certain time of your life. There was nothing unique about these cookies, and in this case, I think that is what makes them so good. They showcase simple, delicious flavors and that is all that these cookies need to shine. I will for sure keep this recipe and recommend anyone to try it. But, next time I’m adding more peanut butter :)
Reviewed Raspberry Cake Bars
"Well, a disappointing recipe in my mind. There was just nothing special at all here, and using pre-made cookie dough, while easy, was a little off putting to me, someone who lives by the mantra that everything homemade tastes better. I’m usually a big fan of fruit flavors, so I was looking forward to tasting the lemon and raspberry flavors together, but using lemon extract and raspberry jam lended an artificial flavor to the cookie. Most annoying, was that these cookies just do not want to bake all the way though. After an additional 30 minutes of cooking time (10 of which I turned the oven up). They are still too gooey, even for me, and I generally LOVE under-baked cookies. Moral of the story - don’t waste your time with these.
Reviewed Turtle Graham Bars
"Wow, I was completely and utterly underwhelmed with these cookies. The flavor for the most part was nothing special, and is in fact, just what you would expect - chocolaty nuts on top of some graham. This cookie has the texture of and tastes a lot like a nutty brittle, which I am not generally a fan of. The only redeeming part of this cookie was the contrast between the sea salt and the chocolate which gave it a tiny bit of sophistication. In the end I say not only no to this recipe, but hell no.
Reviewed Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze
"Mmmm...I absolutely love the sweet/tart flavor these cookies have. The glaze is really in my mind what gives these cookies that tart punch of lemon. I felt the ricotta gave these cookies a more cake-like texture, so they were very light and fluffy. Although I like the recipe as it is, blueberries might be a fun addition. All in all, I feel it's a keeper, but I would probably be more likely to make this recipe in the summertime due to it's zesty, bight flavor.
Reviewed Dried Cherry and Almond Biscotti
"Biscotti isn't a cookie that everyone will love. Some people will be turned off from the somewhat hard texture, but I am not one of these people :) I enjoyed this recipe very much. The lemon zest is what MADE these cookies. It was a nice compliment to the tart cherries, and these cookies would not nearly be as good without it. These are great milk dippers. I also would recommend dipping an end of the cookie in white chocolate as the recipe recommends. Also, I would recommend turning the oven up to 350 when you return them to be heated a second time. I had to cook mine for about 20 minutes longer than the recipe specified. In the end, a good recipe.
Reviewed Coconut Macaroons
"Yum, yum, YUM! This recipe is definitely a keeper. These cookies are WAY easy to make, and taste absolutely amazing. They are perfectly crunchy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. They are not overly coconut-y either. Warning: it is hard to eat only one of these. I "accidentally" kept breaking them when I was getting off the tray, and we can't just throw those broken cookies away, you know..
