Reviewed Granola Bars
"(i went over 1000 characters, so here are my tips, continued)
I sprinkle the chocolate chips on top, instead of mixing them. This also helps them melt less & uses less chocolate!
I use an 8x8 metal pan that fits into my glass pan to help press the mixture down. It is magical.
I purchase oats, nuts, wheat germ (or any substitutes) in the bulk section of the grocery store. This is SO CHEAP!
I make sure to bake them only about 22-23 minutes -- 25 made them too hard for me.
Reviewed Granola Bars
"Well after reading all 200 previous reviews, I think I've found the best combination of tips and tricks. I have made these several times and am still not sick of them! They are so good!
I use parchment paper instead of buttering the pan and have had no problems with the bars sticking.
I use a food processor to grind up the nuts & oats before toasting them. I found this makes the bars overall more "chewy" and easier to eat.
I lightly score them immediately after removing them from the oven and then easily cut them when they are done cooling.
When using chocolate chips, I use the mini ones and I keep them frozen before use. This way, they barely melt.
