Reviewed Creamed Peas with Crispy Shallots

"I wanted to make creamed peas and new potatoes so went on the Food Network searching. Found this creamed pea recipe so decided to go with it. Reduced the red pepper flakes a little (though we really like them in a dish. Didn't do the shallot part of the recipe but everything else was the same. Then added canned new potatoes and heated through."

Reviewed Pot Roast Carbonnade

"Made this today for the first time. It is excellent! Didn't have slab bacon so used the thick cut bacon I had and sliced it about an inch wide. Used guiness beer. Was a little concerned about a tablespoon of thyme, but it turned out great. Cooked it much longer than recipe called for to match dinner time. Lowered the oven temp to 300 to compen""

Reviewed Black Bean Stoup and Southwestern Monte Cristo Sandwiches

"Excellent Stoup! Made exactly as recipe written except I let it simmer for a much longer time. Very flavorful. Nice and spicy. I used Tapatio Salsa Picante Hot Sauce (all 3 Tablespoons) so we appreciated the coolness of the sour cream topping. Served with Artisan Asiago Cheese bread and fresh fruit. A great meatless dinner. Will make again for sure!"

Reviewed Rosemary White Bean Soup

"My husband and I liked this recipe. I used 3 15 oz cans canellini beans (rinsed, 1 qt chicken stock and reduced the olive oil to 2 tablespoons. As I don't have a food mill, I used my immersion blender avoiding completely pureeing the soup, leaving some chunky pieces. This resulted in having to deal with the large rosemary leaves. Next time I will put the rosemary in a cheesecloth bag. Other than that, followed the recipe to the letter. Served it with a rosemary, olive oil Artisan bread and green salad. Nice light evening meal.

Reviewed Braised Cabbage

"Couldn't even feel good about giving this one star and we really like braised cabbage. I made it exactly as recipe said. I'm sorry to say we wasted a perfectly good cabbage. It went to the compost pile.
