My Activity

Reviewed Ham-and-Spinach Spuds

"Terrible. Very weird and bitter flavor. I was a bit suspicious of the nutmeg and cayenne, but decided to go with it because the recipe got such good reviews. Big mistake. Followed the recipe exactly, so I don't know what I could have done wrong.
I like to try new recipes, so my hubs is used to eating some odd stuff. He usually grins and cleans his plate, but this one neither of us could take more than a few bites of. Bummer. Looking forward to a more successful spud.

Reviewed Christmas Shepherd's Pie

"I added worcetshire to the tomato sauce before adding it to the beef. It added a nice flavor. I'd recommend 2-3 teaspoons. Also added a clove of garlic to the mashed potatoes while boiling, and another 3 cloves (presses on the beef.

Substituting cauliflower for potatoes is a healthy alternative and it tastes the same. I did 4 potatoes and a half head of cauliflower. I think you could easily do half potato and half caul.

Also, Jiffy cornbread comes in 8.5 ox box, which wasn't quite enough to cover the top of the dish.

Reviewed Limeade Punch

"I made this for a birthday party and it was a HUGE success. Everybody loved it. It was very tart.

My only alteration was to add 2 liters san pallegrino (sparkling mineral water). it worked out great that way.

I'll definitely serve this again. My only complaint that it was not pink (as pictured).

Reviewed Mulled Apple Cider with Ginger and Orange

"I made this for a birthday party and it was a huge hit. The ginger adds a nice layer to the traditional cider flavor.
