"I made a few changes to the recipe preparation and was pleased with the results. We prefer our cooked vegetables to still have a little crispness, as well as preferring crisp to soggy bacon. So, I removed the bacon after sauteing and withheld it until finishing the dish. I also just cooked the beans for about 20 minutes with the lid on and a few more minutes without the lid to reduce the liquid. The resulting dish was enjoyed by all.
