Thanks for the tips everyone. These were a big hit with the family, but I made a few changes: I blended the butter and sugar over heat only until smooth. I did let it cool but still tempered the eggs as I added them. Once blended with the flour mixture, I added 1 more egg. I, too, used a 9 x 13 pan. Nice taste, chewy center, crunchy outside. Go"
