Reviewed Irish Potato Cakes

May 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

We were not impressed with the results. It was tricky and messy to make and came out a little bit bland. Next time, I'll go heavier on the herbs and my husband suggested that if served with a gravy he may enjoy it better. Probably will stick with mashed potatoes from now on though."

Reviewed Pork Chops Saltimbocca

May 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My husband is notorious for disliking pork chops. He said this was the best he has ever had, and devoured it quickly. The flavors are good, but the prosciutto definitely adds a salty quality to the dish. The shallot sauce was also a little salty tasting even though I used low-sodium broth. Reviewed Sauteed Kale

My first time trying kale. I'll admit that it wasn't bad, but I feel like it could use a little more pizazz. Like some bacon or mushrooms or something to compliment it. Make sure you sautee garlic on medium and the covered kale on medium high."

Reviewed Beef Potpies With Cheddar-Stout Crust

This recipe with adjustments is truly a five star recipe. But it's important to taste & put your own spin on things. My husband works night shift, when I woke up this morning two of them were gone! :)
I made sure to allow the entire slab of beef to sit out for about an hour soaking it in Worcestershire sauce on a plate, turning it halfway...

Reviewed Pot Roast

Oct 14, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe has delicious flavors that really compliment the roast. I did adapt it however to better suit my palate. I prefer to cook this in slow cooker on low all day until the meat just falls apart. I still seasoned and seared the meat, and kept all the other ingredients true. However I did add diced celery, baby carrots, and sliced mushroom...

Reviewed Baked French Toast Casserole with Maple Syrup

Oct 14, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Fantabulous! The quality of the bread is VERY, VERY important when making this recipe. The first time I made it, I made it with a soft french bread and lo and behold it was soggy. This time I used about one and half loaves of hard french bread. The loaves are skinny and have hardly any give when pressed. I also made sure the slices were thick. I...
