Reviewed Tomato Pie

Apr 14, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This pie was delicious! I only gave it four stars because I made a lot of changes, so I can't say for sure how the original tastes, but I bet it is amazing. I can for sure say this recipe is a great starting place for you to play with. I added a layer of spinach as well as come poultry seasoning between the called for basil and tomatoes.

Reviewed Tagliarelle with Truffle Butter

Feb 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I found truffle butter at Target, next to their steaks! I was please with this dish and it was a real crowd pleaser. This is one of those dishes that makes you seem like a better cook than you are, even if your friends already think your food is great!"

Reviewed Mustard-Roasted Fish

Feb 21, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I think I might have done something wrong because this is the first of Ina's recipes that I have not absolutely loved. I am going to go ahead and rate/review it because as I look back over the recipe, there is nothing obvious that I messed up.

I really thought the sauce was too thick for the fish and it was pretty overwhelming....

Reviewed Provencal Vegetable Soup

Feb 21, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This soup was absolutely delicious! I could not find saffron heads anywhere I looked, but it still turned out beautifully. The pistu was really great and I am going to use the leftovers on crunchy bread as an appetizer later this week; don't skip it!"

Reviewed Roasted Shrimp and Orzo

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was a great recipe!! I followed exactly and it was amazing. It was a lot, so I will cut it in half next time because I am only feeding two people, but it was so good I had it for lunch all week.

On a side note, I think it is in poor taste to rate a recipe poorly for something you thought you saw on the show (and in this...

Reviewed Scott's Short Ribs

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe does take forever, but I found that due to the 2 hours in the over, it was the perfect opportunity to take care of other dishes as well as relaxation time. I made these ribs for a family dinner and they were great and I got lots of complements. I would not change a thing about this recipe, I just have to remember to be patient and let...

Reviewed Cheddar Dill Cornbread

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Tried this out with the short ribs it was featured on the show with and they were both a hit! The cornbread was a great texture and had a great taste! I did not have enough fresh dill, so I had to supplement some dried, but it still turned out great. Trust Ina, go with extra sharp cheddar, that flavor was delicious throughout the bread and made a...

Reviewed Birthday Sheet Cake

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I am not sure why all the negative reviews, I tried this recipe out and it was fantastic!! I would say make sure to use EXACTLY the ingredients Ina says to use, and make sure your flour is fresh; I have found that makes all the difference. Also, because I had read the reviews before I tried this recipe, I made sure to pay extra attention to how much...

Reviewed Potato Salad

Jan 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was amazing! It is a potato salad that actually lets the potatoes shine though while still having the tastiest dressing. I will absolutley be making this again and again. Only recomendation would be to make it as early as possible. Sometimes it takes the potatoes longer to cool than you would think and there is nothing worse than warm potato...

Reviewed London Broil with Herb Butter

Jan 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

As many have said, when all is said and done, the meat you end up with is not bad, maybe a little salty, but it is NOT worth the smoke that is created in this dish! I almost couldn't see the kitchen door, and I followed direction exactly. If you are cooking outside, give it a try, it is an interesting way to have London Broil, but I will never make...

Reviewed Shrimp Bisque

Dec 4, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe!! I made this for friends and it was delicious and easy to make. I couldn't find seafood stock and didn't have time to make my own so I used chicken stock but because the shrimp shells get simmered in, it still had a nice shrimp flavor. Also, I did save some of the shrimp leek out and rough chopped them to add texture, it was added to...

Reviewed Chicken Pot Pie

Nov 14, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Great recipe, easier than I ever though possible and I really impressed my friends with this one. Also, if you're like me, I had some filling left over you can add chicken, broth or stock, and a little cream and have soup! It was delicious both ways! Thanks Ina!
