Reviewed Chocolate Sheet Cake

Mar 28, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This is Ree Drummond's version of a classic and much-loved cake. Unfortunately I think it is the most sweet and greasy version out there. I think plenty of people will still love it but it is just too much sugar and butter and not enough chocolate for me."

Reviewed Mint Chocolate Truffles

Mar 28, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

These are far too sweet, I'm afraid. They are more like some kind of fudge, which I think is due to the inclusion of the sweetened condensed milk which is super-sweet. I guess they are a good treat to make for children rather than a dark and intense chocolate truffle which is what I like."

Reviewed Skillet Eggs With Squash

Delicious! My husband was skeptical but loved it too. The serving numbers are off - I cooked 4 eggs which served two for a light dinner. I kept all other quantities the same and it was plenty. I just think if you are serving this as even a light meal it should be two eggs per serving."

Reviewed The Chewy

Best recipe ever! The recipe listed on the website is exactly the same as the one in the video so that may have been corrected at some point. I followed this recipe to the letter and I will never make a different chocolate chip cookie recipe again - the search is over! I only cooked one tray at a time - I was at home with the kids so no hurry to g"

These are super-delicious and absolutely wowed our guests. I served them with saffron rice. I loved that the meatballs were baked in the oven so much easier. Also, the whole dish I made in advance and reheated at dinner and that was great. I did have to leave a couple of the spices out but it didn't make the dish any less fabulous. I didn't have f"

Reviewed Quick Pecan Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Nov 17, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I might be in the minority here but I thought the cake part was nice, however the topping is just too much and far too sweet. Maybe it's because I'm not American and the coffee cake tradition is not something I'm familiar with. I just seemed to have oodles of this overly-sweet crunchy stuff on top that fell everywhere."

Reviewed Mexican Meatloaf

Nov 17, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This is my all-time favourite meatloaf. I'm afraid I haven't made the salsa-glaze as I don't have a blender and it would be too spicy for my kids. I just use a glaze like Alton Brown's recipe. The meatloaf itself is sensational and can withstand substitutions like Italian sausage instead of chorizo (the chorizo is better though, but spicier and ha"

My family really enjoyed this, especially the fish which was so tasty. I will use this recipe again and again. Not having to fry the fish made the whole process much easier."

Reviewed Best Bok Choy

Jan 10, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Delicious! Very simple but a very good combination of vegetables. I doubled the number of baby bok choy because I like them so much and they looked so good at the market. I served it with some grilled salmon and rice.""

Reviewed Blackberry and Apple Pie

Dec 27, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Lovely! This makes a classic English-style fruit pie. The addition of stem ginger in syrup is wonderful and compliments the fruit. For anyone annoyed about not getting all the recipes from this episode, try your local library - I got the book out from mine.""
