just tried it! added a dash of salt (as i had already creamed my unsalted butter), decreased the sugar a bit and added the vanilla and cream to taste. EXCELLENT! i was afraid because i don't like the usual butter cream unless it's actually the French version. Didn't have a candy thermometer so couldn't make it....but this works just fine."

Wow! Much better than I thought it would be. I tend to like the fruitier cobblers with less crust and thought this would be too "bready" but boy was I wrong!
