Used a fresh squeezed orange which made it pulpy, a little less sugar, regular brandy, and triple sec and wasn't fantastic. Not sure if the Spanish ingredients would have made a difference but I did use Spanish white wine. And it had a TON of fruit in it.

The sauce was good but pretty watery. I had to get Fino sherry from the liquor store. Also, I made the mistake of putting everything in the crockpot to serve at a party. That was not a good idea for shrimp--made the texture weird. I am sure it would be better served immediately as the directions state.

It was pretty bland to us when made as directed (with V8 low sodium like the others suggested). I had to add a lot more horseradish, worcestershire, and hot sauce. I DID use my vitamix and it made it a nice consistency. Also, the amount of citrus juice made it a little too tangy for me. But once I tweaked it, it was a BIG HIT!

This is only my 2nd time eating turnips and I'm still not sure I like that bitter, sulfury taste BUT aside from that, this was a good recipe. I got whole turnips from my local farm share so diced those and used quartered baby Bella's for more mushroom flavor. They came out tender & the rosemary was a nice flavor. "

I too added avocado and the combo was very good... Crunch ypeppers, cool avocado, etc. but the spice mixture was very spicy--I used half the amount of both cayenne & black pepper! And when searing it smoked up my house and made us all cough & our eyes burn. I won't make again for that reason... Or maybe use a jerk chicken instead. "

It was very tropical-tasting, which I did not expect, but the spice flavor from the liqueur (I used Hiram Walker brand) and the spiced rim really came through at the end. It was a beautiful orange color, too. Next time I will use less juice and maybe a little more liqueur to see if it is more sangria-like. ""

This was amazing.

I did make many modifications... I doubled the sauce, used Barilla "No Boil" lasagna noodes, added 8oz fresh sliced mushrooms (when cooking the onion), bay scallops instead of sea, 1 pkg thawed squeezed froz chop spinach, and a container of refrig crab claw meat.

It was our Christmas...

It was really good but a little sweet for my taste. I wasn't able to have more than a half a mug (so it made 8 servings). Next time I will try a little more rum and water for the same amount of sugar.
