I gave this recipe a 4-star rating simply because I made a couple of changes to fit my own taste.
I used 1 Tbsp bacon grease, 1 medium shallot (all the onion I had on hand), 1/2 large poblano pepper (again, all I had on hand), and 3 cups of fresh corn.
I didn't add more fat, and used about 3/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp freshly ground...

Well, first of all I have to say that I usually love Ellies recipes and have no complaints. This time, I was not so impressed. It's good, but as I tasted it before I declared it finished, needed salt (I know, it's not as healthy, but there wasn't enough...), and there was still something missing...then I realized that it was lacking umami! So I"

This is a great recipe!
I just made it and now it's cool and I'm munching it as I write this.
After reading the other reviews, I knew to turn the oven lower than stated. That was an unfortunate blunder, because the recipe is great. The butter, brown sugar and honey all add their yumminess, so it's got a great taste and after...

Today I'm at home, it's cold and windy outside, and I have a stack of paperwork to go through, so I thought I'd make up some of the Spicy Hot Chocolate I remember watching Aarti make on her show. I've been collecting Indian spices and have made several Indian dishes lately, and am developing a real love for the spices. This recipe sounded amazing....

Yesterday I watched the recording of this show, and realized that I had everything needed to try it. So, I came home from work, and fixed this tonight!
So yummy!! It's one of my favorite recipes, now! I used low sodium chicken broth and dry vermouth instead of the veggie broth and white wine.
I've tried several of Marcela's recipes,...

Last night I was tired and hungry and wanted some veg, since I'd eaten munchies on the road the last couple of days, and remembered watching Nigella make this pea puree, so I looked it up, had everything called for (I had to sub out sour cream for the creme fraiche), and it was good. The clove of garlic I used was huge, and I didn't read the recipe...
