Oh my, oh MY! I have always been pie-crustly challenged. I forgot to pick up my usual store-bought crust for today's pie, so, under duress, I looked up the cook I trust most and gave homemade one more go. To my ultimate surprise, it was the best dang crust I've ever had! I didn't have lard, so I used shortening, and it was still super tender and flaky...

If it's breaking up a lot on you, add just a few more drops of water. If you're having a very low humidity day, you might need it ;)

I converted my ingredient to volumetric measurements and these turned out great! I'm not sure why so many are saying theirs turned to puddles? Make sure you are using *softened* butter and not *melted*. I think the batter tasted a bit better than the finished product--then again... doesn't it usually? :) I had a bit of trouble with them breaking but...
