If they didn't come out sweet then you did something incorrect. Did you use 2 cups of sugar? Sometimes when making stuff we can get easily distracted and confused and miss something. I have. It calls for 1/2 tsp salt. You have to rely on the recipe itself. They cut out parts of videos sometimes. Yes, add salt unless you use salted butter. :)

I believe sanding sugar is extra fine sugar. I used powdered. I baked them in a 13x9 glass dish like bars. They were like brownies. Best recipe for brownies in my opinion. :) I'll keep looking for a better cookie recipe though.

I think something was off maybe the age of your ingredients or the weather outside. Sometimes that plays a part when following a recipe.
