Reviewed The Lady's Chicken Noodle Soup

Jan 12, 2014 on

Absolutely best chicken noodle soup I have ever tasted! The poached chicken is amazing in itself. Then, the sherry, cream and Parmesan put it over the edge! This has become my go to soup for winter. I highly recommend this recipe written as is!

Reviewed Chicken Pie

Nice taste but way too soupy! I made the recipe as written but I did add fresh carrots, celery and peas. I had to serve this dish in bowls or the sauce would have run everywhere. The crust also turned brown after 32 minutes.I would recommend thickening the sauce with cornstarch and broth or water.Heat it to boiling then stir until it gets to a desired...

Reviewed Fresh Corn Salad

Jul 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I made this for our July 4th party and it was a huge hit. The fresh basil put it over the top. I did replace the red onion with two scallions and 1/2 red pepper. The dressing was a bit too oily for my taste. I made it again with 1/2 the olive oil and it turned out perfectly. I will definitely be making this again!"

Reviewed Mac & Cheese

Jul 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I loved the flavors in this more grown up mac n cheese. I did use half the gruyere cheese and replaced it with sharp cheddar because I was serving this to quite a few kids. The cheese sauce turned out perfectly when I combined it with the noodles. However, it sat out for 35 minutes before cooking and the noodles just soaked up all of the sauce. By"

I am giving this cake a 5 for the "wow" factor because it turned out so beautifully. However, I must admit that the cake was a bit dense and dry. I did bake it for 28 minutes and that was probably a few minutes too long. It does feed a ton of people which is great for a large party. I baked the cake the day before and made the icing in the morning"

Reviewed Roasted Tomato Caprese Salad

Jul 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe provided a nice spin to the usual Caprese salad. Roasting the tomatoes resulted in a more intense flavor although it also changed their texture. Some guests were used to the softer and "mushier" tomato. I used Roma tomatoes and their quality was fair. But, they were delicious after roasting. I did roast the tomatoes the day before and"

Reviewed Knock-You-Naked Brownies

Feb 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I just made these brownies for a Super Bowl party and I have to say that I am bummed! They taste like they come from a boxed cake mix with little effort. I followed the recipe exactly. First of all, they didn't rise very much. Secondly, they just don't have that deep, chocoaltey taste like homemade brownies have. If you enjoy store bought baked go"

Reviewed Chicken Stew with Biscuits

Dec 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I am giving this recipe a 2 on overall presentation and a 5 for taste. I made the recipe the day before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, I took it out for over an hour to get to room temp. The casserole turned out very soupy even after sitting for 20 plus minutes and my biscuits never really rose. It was a bit embarrassing to serve to my in-laws b"

Reviewed Spring Pasta Salad

Jul 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Delicious pasta salad! Everyone loved this dressing. You can adapt it any way you want. I added the dressing to pasta, grape tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and black olives. My family loved it and I will definitely be making this again."

Reviewed Blueberry Crisp

Jul 9, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe was very easy and quick to make. The blueberry part was yummy but was too soupy. I would definitely increase the amount of cornstarch. And there was not enough topping to cover all of the blueberries. Next time, I will increase cornstarch to 2-3TBL and double the topping. "

Reviewed Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Jun 30, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I doubled the recipe and cooked it 30 minutes before heading over to a cookout. We let the casserole sit out for 45 minutes while the burgers were cooking. When we got ready to serve it, the macaroni had soaked up ALL of the sauce and it was embarrassingly dry! If I decide to make this again, I will reduce the cooking time and serve it immediately"
