There are many good tips in this episode -- typical Alton -- and the rub is creative and tasty. HOWEVER: we found that the rub tends to clump unevenly on the chicken. OMG. You will think: "Why am I going to all this trouble...marinade, rub, etc..." Just do it. Then taste it. This is the best bbq sauce I've ever tasted. The kids and me were wrestling for the last pieces. (They won.) This converted me: we're major food snobs, but now we are Neelys fans. This is the real deal."

Excellent. Skipped cinnamon; used dark cocoa + extra Tbsp, and vanilla bean (1 good-sized pod) instead of extract. Richest bread pudding I've ever had. Not a big fan -- find b.p. too mooshy, like geriatric hospital food -- but this pops. Used Italian Shepherd's bread. Rustic, herbal, or sourdough would ruin it. W/ soft bread, 15 min soak is fine. "
