My Activity

Reviewed Caldo Verde

"I had organic sausage, collards, leeks and onions on hand. I knew that potatoes and garlic would be a great addition to those items. I was pleasantly surprised to find this recipe when I entered sausage and collards in the search terms. That said, me and my 18 year old liked this recipe. My 10 year old (no surprise) and my husband did not care"

Reviewed Macaroni and Cheese with Ham

"Wow, this was awesome and easy! I made some fun substitutions: I used bacon fat instead of butter and low fat milk to balance the naughtiness. I also used 1 cup sharp cheddar and 1 cup jalapeno jack cheese...delicious! I skipped the nutmeg. I will make this again and again!"

Reviewed Simple Crab Cakes

"They were easy to make, that's for sure. I would have preferred them with more spice (jalapeno, not old bay) and a different dip (too mayonnaise-y). I will try another recipe next time...these were kinda blah.

Reviewed Smoked Sausage And White Bean Soup

"I had prepared the beans in the slow cooker a couple days before, which was nice, so I could just throw them in the pot and get cooking! I used four chicken bouillon cubes instead of stock, a ham hock instead of the sausage (which I took out, dismantled and put the meat back in), powdered garlic, and instant minced onions. My husband loved it, my teenage daughter traded in her Taco Bell in for the soup, and even my 9 year old, who initially deemed it "gross", LOVED IT! Served with a baked loaf of artisan garlic bread, a great touch. Looking forward to making this again.
