Reviewed Guacamole
"Just made this for a crowd tonight. No substitutions. The hit of the night at my taco bar party. Nice job AB. This is why I follow your recipes. Consistency. "
Reviewed Basic Popover
"Great recipe! I make these all the time. I do use 1% milk rather than whole. I actually think they taste better that way. Wanted to put in nutritional info, but can't seem to figure out how to do that in my own recipe box. So, this is for me- (with 1% milk) 6 servings. 130 calories, 2 grams fat, 17 carbs, 5 grams protein. Not bad for such a yummy "
Reviewed Gumbo
"I made this yesterday. Delicious! My boyfriend said it was well within the top 5 dishes i've ever made, and I cook quite a bit. The dish is not difficult to make, it just takes a LONG time. I added a few things, as I thought it wouldn't have enough flavor and we wanted more seafood. My changes- started with 4 skin on chicken thighs instead of brea""
Reviewed New Potato Salad
"Delicious! I do wish I would have boiled the potatoes a little longer than 10 minutes- They seemed just fork tender, but in the end needed another 5 to be as cooked as we like. Otherwise- The flavor combo is great! I followed the recipe exactly."
Reviewed Halibut Veracruz
"After reading all 44 reviews I must have done something wrong. It seemed way to olivey to my whole family. We used halibut, which in itself was buttery, flakey, and perfectly cooked. But, the sauce overpowered the dish with olive taste. I followed the recipe exactly. I even went back to double check thinking maybe I read it wrong. I will try this again with maybe a third of the olives and see if we like it better. The concept seems really good and the dish was really beautiful."
Reviewed Sunset Park Stuffed Cubanelles
"These were really good! Couple of changes- used poblano peppers- couldn't find the cubanelle. I also added some Italian white cheese into the meat as well as on top before taking out of the oven. I gave this four stars because I thought the sauce needed a flavor boost. I would add some herbs, garlic, etc. Otherwise- this is my new stuffed pepper go to recipe. "
Reviewed Ricotta-Taleggio Ravioli with Wild Mushroom Sauce
"This was awesome! But, I think the difficulty level should be HARD. This was my first homemade pasta, so it seemed to take forever. I made these for Valentine's Day for my boyfriend. He loved them! Just make sure to watch the salt in the sauce. I forgot that the pancetta would add a lot of salt and I ended up adding too much. The recipe has several- add salt- directions. No surprise with Anne. Make sure to taste as you go. Otherwise, absolutely delicious!"
Reviewed Roasted Shrimp Salad
"This salad is really good! I don't like a lot of sauce, so I halved the sauce portion and it was more than plenty. The orange is surprisingly good in this, but I think I will add some lemon zest and juice as well next time. Also- I used Greek yogurt for 2/3 of the mayo and light mayo for the rest. Served as lettuce wraps with bib lettuce. There was some leftover that I refrigerated. It definitely tastes better warm."
