Reviewed Grilled Corn and Tomato-Sweet Onion Salad with Fresh Basil Dressing and Crumbled Blue Cheese

"This was one of the first recipes I ever tried because it's so simple to make. Though I didn't use grilled corn, this salad was still absolutely delicious. If you're not an onion fan though (which my friend wasn't) I would use half an onion, or maybe a quarter (or none at all, if they really hate it) instead of a whole one. Don't be afraid to add blue cheese--the flavors blend together so well, especially with the rice wine vinegar--you don't get an overpowering taste of it. Great dish. Will make again soon.

Reviewed English Sticky Toffee Pudding

"So, so good. The pudding is soft and warm when you cut into it and the toffee sauce glaze on top just adds a little something extra to the already moist bread. I introduced this to my mom and she has been making it and claiming it as one of her signature desserts ever since.

Reviewed Lemon Bars

"If you're looking for a really lemon-y lemon bar, this is it. I tried both Ina's lemon bars and Paula's lemon bars and Ina's definitely tasted better--more lemon-y. The only thing is mine kept cooking evenly on the edges but remained soft and mushy in the middle. Could have been my oven, but I also made this recipe 3 other times and I think adding just a tad less than a cup of lemon juice should do the trick (note: for OLDER ovens).

Reviewed Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes

"Tried this recipe for the first time for our family's Thanksgiving meal! It was pretty tasty by itself but had a hard time standing out next to all the other Thanksgiving dishes. I think this recipe is good if you're just looking for good ol' mashed potatoes, but I would try adding chives or onion/garlic powder for a little extra flavor next time.

About Me

I have been a dedicated Food Network fan for three years and counting.  I love watching people cook (hence all the Food Network TV my eyes consume), trying new food, and (hopefully, eventually) writing about it!

Just a full-time college student on the side.
