My Activity

Reviewed Parker House Rolls

"Yes, I agree with everyone else--too much sugar when raising the yeast. I think the best thing to do is add a teaspoon into the yeast and rest of the sugar when you add the 6-1/2 c of flour. I think 1/2 CUP of sugar is way too much--I think it should be about 2 tblspns! On the subject of flour--I added OVER 9 CUPS of flour and it was still so sticky!!! I think there must be something wrong with this recipe all around. My dough is rising right now, and I'm not confident that the recipe proportioned correctly. Hey-thanks, Alex.

About Me

I detest the overuse of the word "gourmet"..... I mean, how can your classify a canned or boxed, processed, chemical-ridden food as "gourmet"??!!  Crazy!

I am also turned off by 'trendy' restaurants serving up tiny, super-expensive dots of food and calling it a meal--talk about prententious!!!!

Favorite Foods

Comfort foods of all kinds are my specialty.  I rarely use a recipe and tend to fly by the seat of my pants with what I have on hand.  I may use a recipe as a guide line, but won't follow it line by line, except in baking perhaps.  I mean, geez, how can use just a tsp of vanilla when a tablespoon is SOOOO much better!
