Reviewed Easy Coleslaw Dressing

Jan 26, 2014 in null on

This is a wonderful dressing recipe - I added about 2 tablespoons Catalina dressing to it at the end to add a little color and tang and it really brightened up the flavors. Used one bag green cabbage mix w/ carrots and one bag purple cabbage and is perfect amount of the eight of us with just a little left over."

After moving a few years ago, I'd packed my steamer basket (somewhere!!!!) and had not bothered to dig through and find it for previous recipes -- I did dig it out and am SO HAPPY I did for this recipe!!! I've made tons of wings every-which-way, and by far these have been the family and friend favorite!!! Such a time-saver of clean up vs. frying...

Loved it! Only change I made the second time around was to cut squash into halves and roast at 325 (seasoned lightly with olive oil and coarse salt) for about 30 minutes -- not until tender, just to give it a little more depth of flavor. Then cubed it and continued with recipe to let squash simmer and soften with rest of ingredients. Was so delicious...

Worth the time at the get-go (and really didn't take all that long) and loved the rich savory scent of my kitchen while prepping and simmering.
My favorite part of this recipe is that with a family of 8 buying meat can get Very expensive -- beef shanks are very inexpensive (at least at our grocery) and a few go a long way in this dish....

There is not even enough to scrap one last spoonful from the baking dish!
