Reviewed Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread

Nov 21, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Not the traditional southern sweet cornbread, but a delicious savory cornbread. Turned out fluffy and had a nice cheddar flavor. Adjust spice with more jalepeno if needed. Pairs really well with her mexican chicken soup. Worth trying if you want something a little different. I read other reviews suggesting to change cornmeal/flour ratio, but i found...

Reviewed Grilled Pork Tenderloin Filled with Walnut Romesco and Served with Caramelized Date-Shallot Sauce

Oct 28, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Very easy to make. Tenderloins cook very quickly which is perfect for a dinner party. Stuffing has very good flavors with just the right amount of spice. Date sauce was sweet and savory. Would definitely make again.

Reviewed Riesling Poached Pears with Cardamom Cream

Oct 28, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Delicious!! I did not have riesling on hand, but used a spiced apple wine instead. Very easy to make. The poaching liquid made a divine golden syrup. Cardamom cream was fluffy and just enough spice to compliment the delicate flavors of the pear. Perfect fall desert, if you want something light to follow some of fall and winters heavier meals.&l...

Reviewed "V" is for Vegetarian Ragout over Cheese Polenta with Red Pepper Coulis

Oct 19, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Made this recipe for my husband who was told by Dr. to eat more vegetables, less meat. Wasn't sure he would go for the polenta, but it was a huge success. The red pepper coulis really made the dish even richer. I grated low fat cheddar instead of parmesan to cut calories a bit. He raved about it all night and even in the morning. I also substituted...

Reviewed Apple Zeppole with Cinnamon Whipped Cream

Oct 17, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Very moist and delicate fritter. Not very sweet. I added extra apple which ended up making my dough a little on the runny side. So unfortunately i ended up with flatter fritters. Keep a thermometer to monitor the oil temp. Olive oil smokes at a lower temp. I would like to try making them again to perfect them. Mine were also a little greasy. Whipped...

Superb! So easy my 2 year old helped! If you can, spring for the creme de cassis, definitely inhances flavors. Could easily be made with other stone fruit or apples and brandy or liquers. Good basic recipe that can be switched up depending on what you have.

Reviewed Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup with Cheesy-Garlic Croutons

Oct 13, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

Perfect fall soup! Brandy really makes it rich. The only change i made was adding a cornstarch slurry to thicken a bit just because i was in the mood for a thicker hearty soup. Very easy to make. As for the croutons, i toasted them first with the olive oil drizzle, then rubbed with garlic clove. Garlic melts on toast without crumbling the bread. I...
