Reviewed Ginger Strawberry Shortcakes

Jun 20, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The recipe is missing ingredients. They missed a leavening agent so biscuits don't rise at all. They taste okay, but are very dense and dry. The strawberry mixture and the sour cream are fine. I can't recommend it though, because the biscuits just don't work."

Reviewed Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp

This is very good! I often have a problem with my crisps setting up well, but not with this one. As noted below, it you make it in a regular casserole dish, it will take a bit longer in the oven. "

Reviewed Lemon-Garlic Chicken With Creamed Corn

Jun 13, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was really good, but the oven temperature was way too hot. The garlic and lemons was close to burnt and there were no juices left. Next time I will be making this with a lower oven temp."

I love peaches. I love bourbon. What better way to combine them than in this excellent desert?"

Reviewed Skillet Cornbread Pudding with Ham and Pepper Jack

Apr 10, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is an excellent dish. I used leftovers from a large ham we bought, which worked very well. I missed buying pepperjack and substituted white cheddar. Yummy!""

Reviewed Sugar Snap Peas With Leeks and Pancetta

Mar 23, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for my lady's birthday yesterday and it was great! We ended up eating more of this than normal for a vegetable dish. Instead of using pancetta, I used a 3 ounce package of prosciutto. It had a very good bacony flavor and the hint of tartness from the vinegar was just the right note.""

Reviewed Almost-Famous Cheesecake Pancakes

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These are very good and very definitely just as good as the ones at IHOP. I found them just a bit heavy for breakfast, but they are nice for brunch.""

Reviewed Grandma Moore's Creamed Corn

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent recipe! My wife begs me for this when we haven't had it for a while, and has had me make it for family members fairly often. Make sure your bacon isn't too lean, or you won't have enough drippings to flavor the corn. I have made it with frozen corn, and it comes out pretty well, though fresh is better.""

Reviewed French Fry Deluxe Salad

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is an excellent salad. I make it every couple of months. I will have to try both adding hamburger and using tater tots. That said, this is a great mix of flavors as it stands. (But yes, save adding the fries until the last minute.)""

Reviewed BLT Sandwich Salad

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is very good, but the bacon can be a pain. That said, I have made the bacon part separate for other recipes. I don't make this too often because it just feels decadent for a salad. *smile*""

Reviewed Teriyaki Chicken Thighs

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This has become a keeper around my home, though I tend to keep the skin on the thighs. It makes them tastier and the only way I know to keep them crispy.""

Reviewed Chicken Pot Pie Turnovers

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These were great! I was able to freeze half for a later meal which was just as good as the first time out.""

Reviewed Chicken Pot Pie

Mar 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent! I have made this several times. The last time was just after Christmas. I used turkey instead of chicken and used the leftover gravy in place of some of the stock. It was excellent and froze well for a meal in mid-January.""

These are great desert, especially when served with just a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The ginger and orange work great together.""

Reviewed Wedge Salad

May 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It's a simple salad, and maybe it is "classic" to some people, but I hadn't had it until I went to Claim Jumper a couple of years ago. It is very tasty, though I also add some chopped pecans to it. I am glad the recipe is here - I just printed it, put in my binder and have it to remind me I to include it on my menu rotation. Sometimes I forget I c"

Reviewed Sausage-and-Rice Timbale

Apr 5, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was a really good meal. I served this for dinner, and got rave reviews. Like others, I used a layer of cheese on top of the filling, and didn't have enough for a sauce. That said, it didn't need sauce over the top. It may have been because I only used have as much stock. I had a feeling the 3 cups were going to be too thin for my tastes. I also...

The pistachios and raisins add really nice texture and flavor. My wife asks for this about every other week since I first made it. I haven't had problems with the recipe as written.
