The filling is runny as noted in other comments but I just went with it and let it run off the sides which just made it look even better. "This is such an easy recipe and always a huge hit. Just make sure the butter is at room temperature and beat for the full 10-15 minutes and it is perfect every time! I have subsituted vanilla for almond extract, walnuts instead of pecans, and with no nuts. Very versitile recipe. "
