Reviewed lowcountry smothered pork chops

8 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

It turned out very tasty, and I liked the simplicity of it. But there is a contradictory information about whether this is Paula Deen's recipe or some "wiewer
who may not be a professional cook". Which one is it, Food Network?

Reviewed grilled chicken wings with spicy chipotle hot sauce and blue cheese-yogurt dipping sauce

Aug 12, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I loved the whole wing presentation! after grilling I simmered the wings in the sauce but used about 1/2 of the vinegar in the recipe, and 1/2 of the mustard. I used all the other ingredients, and the result was delicious. The reason for 4 stars is that I had to tweek the recipe for the sauce. Otherwise it would be too vinegary for me.

Reviewed open-faced plum tart

Aug 7, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this recipe exactly as written with just one exception: I used 1 tablespoon Minute Tapioca, a natural thickener of fruit. My plums were delicious, didn't need extra sugar because they were sweet to begin with.
I sprinkled the eggwashed crust with granulated sugar, just a light dusting.
The pie was perfect.

Reviewed pork chops with beer and bacon gravy

Like with all the recipes containing some type of alcohol, you have to make sure that you like this alcohol first and foremost. Remember how the chefs always tell you to use in cooking the type of wine you'd like to drink? the same goes for beer: if you don't like its taste when drinking, you won't like it in cooking. Keeping this in mind, I used...

Reviewed herb roasted cornish game hens

Mar 6, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I don't know who writes these recipes on FoodNetwork but they differ from what's on the show. Sandra put the Cornish hens on top of her veggies, and baked them without a rack or any foil lining the pan. While using a rack would probably be a good idea, this is not how she did it on the show. The recipe looks good, and since I did not try it yet, I...

Reviewed rib eye steaks with cowboy butter

Feb 17, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I just watched Ree make this steak recipe online. The written recipe is not at all like the one online. FN changed Ree's recipe in many ways: the steaks are supposed to be thin, not 2 inches thick; there was no oven involved in frying these steaks; Ree fried these steaks in oil and butter, not butter alone, she emphasized this point because the butter...

I wrote to Foodnetwork about this website and the new Recipe Box where one can't save into categories anymore, but no answer whatsoever.

Replied to lemony shrimp scampi with orzo and arugula

Feb 2, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I have the same problem: no longer can I save to categories in my recipe box.
I have written to Foodnetwork, but they ignore my question, they never answered.
I guess their customers are no longer important to them.

Reviewed salade nicoise

Jan 28, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I just finished watching Melissa's episode about salad Nicoise. I wonder what happened to those anchovies that she used in the vinaigrette. Why aren't they mentioned in the written recipe above??? The anchovies is what makes this Nicoise salad distinctive. I've been to France and that's how they serve it, with anchovies. It's really frustrating to...

Reviewed Nachos

Sep 30, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I liked the simplicity of these nachos. They were easy to make -important if you don't want to get bogged down with complicated ingredients right before the game- and delicious.
I made 2 separate batches with fresh and jarred jalapenos to test them out.
The fresh ones were more crunchy and pretty, but the jarred ones were more spicy.
Both...

Reviewed Chicken Fried Pork Chops with Chunky Pear Chutney

Mar 6, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I am taking off one star because the recipe calls for solid vegetable shortening, code name trans fatty acids. Otherwise, it is a good recipe. I fried those chops in plain vegetable oil and they were great!
